TLDR:
PC master race proven correct.
If SDS released a purely PC only version and ALL of the problems were gone that would tell you console gens are the problem not their game engine. I think Madden and some 2K games are on PC. I don't play them though so I can't give you my thoughts on their performance on PC and compare to console.Sorry that's a lot to read.
No worries! I appreciate the dialog!
I get where you're coming from. It's definitely not as simple as just blaming previous gen consoles. Games like Fortnite have managed to keep things running smoothly across different platforms, including older ones. So, it does make you wonder why MLB The Show struggles in comparison.
I agree that cutting support for previous gen consoles isn't a silver bullet. If the game performed well on new gen consoles and poorly on old ones, then it would make more sense. But when the issues are consistent across all platforms, it points to deeper problems, possibly with the game engine itself or the overall development process at SDS.
It's also true that dropping support for previous gen would lose a significant chunk of the player base and, consequently, a lot of money. Plus, this cycle would just repeat every time a new console generation comes out, as you mentioned.
Regarding the PC master race debate, it's a fair point that PC games often avoid these issues and can provide a more stable experience. If SDS released a PC-only version and the problems disappeared, it would indeed indicate that the console hardware is a significant part of the issue. But until then, we can't ignore the possibility that the game's engine or SDS's development practices need improvement.

Having some transparency and direct communication from SDS would go a long way in addressing the community's concerns.
It would be really helpful if the devs could be more active on their own forum, engaging with us and providing updates on what they're working on. Even if they can't share everything, a bit of insight and acknowledgment of our feedback would make a huge difference. The silence is frustrating, and a little more interaction could help build a stronger connection between the developers and the community.

@BadaBing_0 ya'll are kidding, you'd just clown them even more if they gave you a response like this community always does.

The forum does have it's share of clowns but I would like to think that I am not one of them.
-
@chucky97___ Bro, I don't think you get it. We would not be here if the game was up to par. We paid money, we live in the real world, it is a product they sell with an expectation that isn't met.
If they fixed these problems you wouldn't hear from us unless it was something about the game mechanics, cosmetics, captains, etc. You're hating us for giving feedback that you just don't agree with. You have no idea who we are. You have no idea where we are from or what games we play. I don't ever say these things on other games forums because I don't have these issues. Why are you this dense and hateful to us? Yes I will admit I say rude and dickish things to you and those like you BECAUSE of what you just said. You're in denial and refuse to put blame on the developers who make the [censored] game.
I love this game at it's basics and what it stands for. I would not be here if I didn't give a [censored] about the quality of this game.
If the game didn't have issues I wouldn't have anything to complain about. How do you not understand that?
You must not have played cyberpunk, no man's sky, destiny, or seen what happened to the Sonic movie.
There are people with REAL issues and REAL complaints. I'm not saying you're a child or have everything given to you but you don't sound like someone who paid lots of money and offered up wasted time to be disappointed by something you expected to be great.
Wild. Simply wild. -
I am still going to play because I enjoy the game regardless of the flaws.
-
I have no problems with the game this year, don't have any of the foul balls that other people talk about, have been enjoying playing the game and will continue to play
-
^^^^^ delusional
-
Wow rude much, everyone has a right to their own opinion about this game. If you don't like the game then don't play it anymore and let people have their own opinion on it and not say rude things

They're a Cubs fan, some of the most rude, and entitled fans I've ever encountered at games. Not shocking.
-
@sbchamps17_NSW I think over hyping is not good and damages the game but I do think it's fair to say the game is fun and if you haven't experienced problems then that's amazing and good. I agree the game at it's base is pretty great.
But to me I haven't experienced the MLB gaming experience I paid for like I have in the past.
I wish we could all share your experience and because of the way we have experienced this game we cannot and here to the forums we all are. -
The kid b1tched and moaned liked everyone else especially at launch and acts like he didn't. I dig up his posts but idc to. That's why he's delusional.
Some folks on these forums think they are entitled as well. BJ is one of them. Not shocking
-
I complained at launch because I couldn't play because of the Nintendo switch crashes so unless you can say that you experienced the same thing on Nintendo switch then stop being rude. It's a pain to not be able to play the game that I spent good money on to play at launch then having to watch it collect dust for a full week because SDS couldn't fix it right away

TLDR:
PC master race proven correct.let me start with I'm not a previous gen user. I'm not defending users on previous but I am in no way shape or form advocating for those users to pay big money they can't afford to get new gen.
I will say it's hard for me to believe it's solely a previous gen issue because of all the varying games I play on console and PC. With games like Fortnite who have successfully upgraded their game AND kept it cross platform with old gen. Sure the old gen may not be able to keep up with frame rates and some other issues, it still runs to an acceptable level and can definitely be viable for massive playerbase.
As a PC player these issues never really occur until it comes down to performance. Most PC games are relegated to the OS. Windows 10 for example seems to be the standard starting point and we all know W10 has its issues and is dated as well BUT game devs still do well with previous gen OS.
Something tells me if Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all dropped support for previous gen the would lose LOTS of money, yes. But I don't think it would permanently fix The Show because what happens when the next gen comes out again? Back at Square one. So this excuse doesn't sit well with me. It just tells me SDS can't do their job at peak when they need it most.
What you're saying isn't being said by SDS so we can't at all take that for truth. SDS in their silence on this tells me they are satisfied with the game engine.I would believe this IF the game performed well on new gen consoles and poorly on previous gen NOT poorly for everyone because some players have dated tech.
This kinda brings me to the PC master race debate. If we are going to deflect blame off of SDS on the next gen issue then that just furthers the point that console will remain inferior while Fortnite, CoD, Elden Ring, etc continue to thrive and make more money on PC.
If SDS released a purely PC only version and ALL of the problems were gone that would tell you console gens are the problem not their game engine. I think Madden and some 2K games are on PC. I don't play them though so I can't give you my thoughts on their performance on PC and compare to console.
Sorry that's a lot to read.
It all makes so much sense now.
You're a PC gamer. The utmost, stereotypical of PC gamers. The toxicity, the mansplaining, THE CONSTANT REMINDER THAT YOU SPENT 80 WHOLE AMERICAN DOLLARS ON A VIDEO GAME.
You're one of these "PC master race" clowns, lol.
There's no way possible to take a literal meme such as yourself seriously. You might as well start every post with "well actually" and if I dug through your posts, I'm certain I would find it.
Nice fedora clown.

@Cubsfan217_XBL I think you're half right. SBC not as much though. He genuinely believes the game is fun but I think acknowledges it's problems. I've been here enough now to see who the white knights are and arnt. SDS has a lot of them and I think that's how they stay in business alongside their marketing. Whales too.
The game really WOULD be perfect or amazing if these bigger gameplay bugs and issues were fixed. I think players like SBC might be wrong about it not being frustrating but hey he said himself he has not experienced the issues we have. I don't think he's delusional. BJ, yes. Tyler, yes. Some of these others.....not really.Edit:
The second I finished my post BJs loaded above it lmao!!!!! Can't paint a better picture. -

@BJDUBBYAH_PSN I am out of likes for the day, BJ otherwise I'd like your post

Wow now your on his side, just because I don't have a problem with the game doesn't mean you can bad mouth me. That's very rude. I stated what my only problem with the game was in my last post which was not being able to play at launch because of the Nintendo switch crashes

Well, we made it pretty far before the nonsense started. It was a fun discussion prior to that. Thanks to everyone who positively contributed.
