The Flashback & Legend Card Count by Team - May 23rd
-
As season 1 winds down I thought I would look at the numbers again.
There is a Lou Gehrig Program next week so I expect the Yankees lead to grow. But right now they are one card shy of having 4 times more than the Rays. They are more than double the number of 20 other teams.
I put it in a chart for better visualization (Thanks ChatGPT)

Sucks for team builds. The white Sox live series is awful. No one should be forced to use Nicky Lopez at second base

Yeah, even with both captains some teams did not get enough content to make it even worthwhile to try a team build.
I just got rid of my last two live series cards yesterday (a silver and a bronze). I'll use that team when i can for the next two weeks but it will be decimated (like pretty much all teams) come season 2.

I know it's still unfair , but some Yankee legends are duplicates like Jeter and posada .

I never will have a problem with the Yankees having the most players. It is a storied franchise with some of the best players to have ever played. My issue has always been with the ratio. A 4 to 1 advantage over the last place team after only one season is extreme. Twice as many cards as twenty other teams in the first three months is extreme.
Matt Carpenter has played for 3 teams. He has the least amount of games with the Yankees (47) so of course they get a 98 Carpenter. In season 1 the Yankees got 6 legend and flashback right fielders.
Were there no better candidates from another team for an Easter program card than Luke Voit? In season 1 the Yankees received a total of 4 primary first base legend and flashback cards.
Just in those two positions they almost equal the Rays total number of legend and flashback cards across all positions.

They did the Rays fans (all 4 of them) dirty by not making the Topps Now card part of the program.
But I guess making their one non TA flashback a pack card is consistent with their approach this year
