Why do the Season Award Program?

Then why say anything about the program to begin with if you were just gonna do it anyway, if you don't like the way the game is this year then don't play and certainly don't complain about everything little thing on it
Why do people post on these forums at all? To be heard and get feedback from the community.
It seems most of you don't agree with how disappointing Witt's 95 lightning card is. And you know what? That's fine. You're entitled to your own opinion. Most of those who disagree are offline gamers who have a hard time against the CPU on allstar. These gamers don't understand what meta and top tier means simply bc they don't play competitively online. Which is also fine.
If I sucked and only played on rookie/veteran against the cpu, I probably would react the same way as many of u.I wouldn't understand my own argument, and I'd probably tell myself to go play another game, don't do the program, don't use Witt, and go kick rocks.
I honestly wouldn't even know how stupid I'd sound, simply bc I wouldn't understand the argument. -

I'd rather use Cpt Dansby, Willie Castro, Rich Aurillia, Trevor Story, Ernie Banks, and Corey Seager.
I would much rather see Witt as a top ss option, but he just isn't.You are not, in all of those cases, comparing apples to apples.
Comparing a card with a boost to a card without a boost is not a fair comparison. As for those players with 90+ cards that you would prefer that is perfectly acceptable.
But let's also not overlook the fact that not everyone has all of those cards to choose from.
- Rich Aurilia requires 120 Season 1 cards to be collected.
- Ernie Banks was a Ranked Season reward that is roughly 25K on the market
- Corey Seager is a live series 90 overall card that costs roughly 90K on the market
- Captain Dansby requires you to use one of your (currently) limited captain choices on him.
- Willie Castro was a Battle Royale reward and requires the Buxton Boost to be comparable
- Trevor Story requires 535K of XP on the reward path
I think it is safe to say that your average player has, at best, only 1 or 2 of those choices. Or if they are like me they have none of those cards yet. For most of us Witt Jr is the best shortstop that is easily attainable for us simply by committing a little time to the weekly drops programs.
Your theory that every lightning card should be the clear winner when comparing shortstops is the surefire way to have no lineup diversity, where every team you face will have Witt Jr at SS.
-
@Vipersneak Wrong…This forum is for posting if you have a question or need help on how to improve, ect…SDS devs have repeatedly said if you see a glitch or have a suggestion to submit a ticket. They do not sit on their phones saying “Oh no, Gamertagxyz said he hates the program! Let’s pull it offline & rebuild it!”

How does a Captain Card (Dansby) compare to a Lightning card?
If you use Dansby, without any other Cubs cards, are his stats actually better the the Witt Lightning?

Dansby is actually a Braves Captain card. It's a good card that gets better if you use the Buxton cornerstone captain to up his power.
But as I said, I don't think it is a fair comparison to compare an unboosted card (Witt JR) to a Boosted one (Swanson)
-
@Dolenz64.
You're absolutely right. The 95 Witt card is probably the best free program SS you can get. I agree 100%!
That's actually part of my point. You know it, God knows it, little Timmy knows it, and SDS knows it. This is why they chose to give the card a 95 overall rating, but intentionally watered down the stats. It's really an 88 overall card with a 95 overall rating. They watered down the stats bc they knew 98% of the playerbase would grind for him.
This is why I created the thread. I chose to share this info and my thoughts regarding the overall stats for a 95 card is actually awatered down fraud 95 card.I listed the other players I'd rather use simply bc yes they are mostly boosted with the Buxton or Arenado captain. Cards like Ernie Banks is not. His card, "hitting wise" is better than Witt, and he's not a 95. One could argue well Witt has 99 speed. Yes he does. No argument here. But his hitting numbers are higher than Witt's, and Witt is a higher overall.
Remember, speed does NOT factor in a cards rating. There are 50 rated cards with 90+ speed.
My whole point for the thread is to show how disappointed I am. I wanted to use hos card competitively. I could still use him on HOF or Legend, but he'd count as one of 2 cards not needed for the captain boost. I'd rather use those slots on other cards, preferably 2 Outfielders with the Arenado boost. -
Where are you getting this “it’s actually an 88” business from? Nothing you have said in this entire thread has made any mathematical sense…
-
When I go to my squad, click on Bobby Witt, then turn the filters to show only 88 or below players, there isn’t a player I own in the 88 range that has attributes anywhere close to Bobby Witt’s… Buxton ALMOST has stats that good, but I have him paralleled to V.
When I limit it to shortstops, but increase the attributes to include all ranges again, Aurilia is the only one that come close. But he’s 93 overall, so that makes sense.
Now, am I saying that Witt will make it into the meta of the game? No. Because honestly, I have never understood the meta of the game for a decade. But this “he’s equivalent to an 88” nonsense has to stop.

They need to get rid of the 100+ hitting attributes.
Or they need to have EACH AND EVERY attribute able to go up to 125.

That is a deep rabbit hole to go down because then you have to look at actual team based theme teams where players are getting +15 to all contact and power stats if they have both team captains.

This right here. You are just making up numbers man. Im calling bull bro. Ya just throwing out some random numbers and math on a video game forum that doesn't make a lick sense. I mean who are you man? The dude from Good Will Hunting? Lol

94.72 Meta overall according to a much more reputable source that has done these calculations for a few years.
But keep saying how dumb and stupid other people are OP.

Showzone? I love that site.
In fact, One of the things that I love about it is that I’ll let you compare side-by-side cards from the past five or six years. So… you know what? I did just that.
24’s Season 1 Witt vs. 23’s Season 1 O’Neill Cruz. Both are 95 overall SS’s. Witt on left; Cruz on right.
Con R - 113; 101
Con L - 90; 58
Pwr R - 84; 120
Pwr L - 96; 93
Vis - 65; 58
Disc - 52; 81
Clt - 84; 97Bunt, DrBunt, & Dur were the same on both cards.
Fld - 85; 73
Arm - 81; 99
Acc - 84; 68
Reac - 77; 71Spd - 99; 99
Stl - 99; 50Honestly, it looks like if anything, Witt’s card is better than the typical 95 rated card from this time last year. Showzone tends to agree. It views this card very highly (102.27 to Cruz’s 93.72; similar in meta rankings though).

Completely blows up OP’s ridiculous “calculations” that he claims is “math”
Also, Witt Jr has been mashing for me since using him and that includes 2 ranked games on HOF. Fantastic leadoff hitter

@doobiebross66-72 Does SDS still consider position in its ratings too? I'm only back recently (last played I think in 2019), and I remember 2B having high overalls but being far worse players statistically than most other positions.
It'd be cool if SDS released their formula for overall calculation. Though honestly I don't think the overall matters much.

You do realize those calculations are based on a few specific stats, right? You don't think I don't know about that site?
They factor in the highest hitting stats, combined with the best fielding stats, rhrn also include the speed/stealing, etc. Then they compare them to other true position players to factor in the overall rating.
They used his 113 Con vs R
His 96 Pow vs L,
99 Speed/97 Steal
Even his 90 Con vs L to compare with other cards "overall stats" to come up with their own "Meta rating."They DO NOT factor in the shytty 84 clutch, 65 Vision, low 77 fielding reaction, horrendous 52 disc.
I know how they rate their cards. It's a good source to compare to other positions.
Once again, and I'll try to spell it out so even you can understand.
The overall rating says 95.. The stats do not equal a 95 rated card. If u just factor in his Con and Pow vs Left and Right, that would equal (((95)))
But, clutch replaces the Contact. So replace the Con numbers with 84 when runners are in scoring position. What do u have? (((87)))
That's just clutch.
Now let's do both sides.
Pow Vs Righties with clutch = (((84)))
Pow Vs Lefties with clutch = (((90)))
Now lets add Vision and Clutch with pow vs R= (((78)))
Vision, clutch, + Pow vs L = (((82)))The numbers go down when you factor in Clutch and vision. This is just an example of Witt's overall and situational hitting rating.
If you don't understand these numbers, please refrain from trying to mock me based on information you saw from another site. You clearly have no clue what the numbers represent.
Bobby Witt is not the 3rd best SS.
He's literally the 7th best, and every one of those cards has a lower overall rating than him.
My entire point of this thread was to throw this out there so SDS would stop watering down their free program cards, and ppl would see exactly what they are doing. But apparently, every single one of you are as dumb as SDS thinks you are.
So who's the joke on, really?
You idiots. Lol smh. -
@Shauwn Honestly, is there a significant difference between a 94 and 95? 90 and 95? The overall rating is pretty arbitrary generally or seems to be. I'd love to see the significant difference of the meta data on player ratings to see what the cutoff lines are. The game can't be so finely tuned that a 112 contact and a 113 contact are different enough to matter. It's mostly psychological. It's why stance and swing matter so much.
