What’s with the lack of collections nowadays?

Am I the only one that prefers when there are separate collections for each card type? I used to love stocking up on cards of each type in case they’d eventually come in handy.
Given, I stopped playing last years game in May. Did they eventually do this last year? Or were Set 1 cards only good for the Set 1 master collection?

They didn’t want people to just be able to buy the live series collection and then not have to spend money on packs. So they nerfed the collection in hopes that people would buy more of the choice packs instead

No thanks on the separate collections I would always end up with 100 extra topps now cards and never enough prime cards
