It has to be right? Literally nothing works consistently or make sense
Hitting: Hitting is a complete mess. The hitting outcomes are as random and arbitrary as ever. And to add to that, people are hitting HRs (at least against me) at an insane rate. I feel like I'm back in '17 or '18 (don't remember which one) where literally anybody could hit a HR on any pitch. Perfect flyballs are low exit velos and then early/ok swings are HRs. And obviously everybody knows the problem with PCI placement. Balls in the middle are "ok" contact but balls completely outside the PCI are "good" contact. The other day I had a swing where the ball was COMPLETELY outside the inner PCI and it was a "good" contact HR.
Pitching: Pitching is a nightmare. Nobody has any control over their pitches. Fastballs are now at warp-speed and the high sinker is making a comeback. You see the same 3 pitchers in every game.
Fielding: Outsiders don't lock on and infielders make way too many errors
Seriously....what is good about this game? The content. Maybe, but who cares when every aspect of the game is atrocious. Follow CardinalBird on Twitter. The dude is an MLBTheShow OG and basically does nothing but complain about the horrible gameplay
-
Would be nice if SDS had some transparency/communication with us.
Your right about CardinalBird though, I learned a lot from watching his videos back in the day.
-
They don't communicate because they don't care. That became obvious last year when they were caught on camera making fun of the community and never addressed it. Ramon is great at his job because he has magnetic personality and is well spoken with a good sense of humor. But think for a second he cares one bit about this community or the actual state of the game
-
Nah not at all, last year was imo way worse, and claiming they don’t care when they are more than likely working on a patch for the issues is brilliant

Ya because over the last three years the patches have REALLY improved the game and shown that they listen to the community
The last three years people have complained that patches have RUINED hitting. So to say they're working on a patch to fix things just doesn't match up with how things work around here

Hitting might be slightly better. Everything else is worse. Still enjoying the game, but man... it could be so much better.
If they copied 19 and just added this years perfect/perfect and pci, this would be the best show ever.
-
18 is still worse.
-
yea you're right, they should really get on fixing the gameplay, I mean its not like there is something much bigger going on in the world. It's not like they are barred from going into work or anything like that, no excuse.

I’m not sure, I think ‘18 was only worse because of the terrible content. If it wasn’t for the souvenir paywalls, linear content pyramid scheme and only one immortal 99 available at each position (they didn’t even give us enough to fill the rotation and bullpen lmfao) then ‘18 would be a better game. That being said, I’ve never seen a game with worse content than ‘18 and probably never will (Remember how they released no content for a looooong time in summer and then we got a single Matt Holliday card that sucked and that was the entire content drop? I can’t forgive and forget that part).
As for ‘20, OP is right on the money. You cannot hit the ball well. You cannot pitch well, even if you buy stubs and upgrade your rotation in the forlorn hopes of the ball going where you want it to. You cannot be sure that your diamond outfielder will catch the ball, even if you’re camped under it. It’s absolutely awful. I hate it. Nothing works well, the game doesn’t feel fluid and natural, it’s not an enjoyable experience to play, even if you win the game by a comfortable margin. Most people only complain when they lose, but it’s immaterial really. The fun factor just isn’t there this year, every game is a slog through random outcomes that make no sense, every batter check swings at every pitch because nobody can time a fastball against offspeed and the game is often decided by whichever outfielder can’t make a play because they’re attempting to field a ball that’s hit near the outfield wall.“No changes to gameplay tuning, we’re monitoring data on the backend”
You need to hope that people are still willing to play Diamond Dynasty when you get around to crunching that data, because it’s been less than a month and I’m close to being done with online play personally. -

Pitch speeds were softball level slow, making fastballs basically useless.
An entire type of hitter was completely unusable, that being contact hitters. Those two things were massive flaws, so big that 18 is by far the worst game in the series, in my opinion. Every game will have its own issues though, so it just depends on what bothers you more.
-
Oh yeah I forgot about the contact hitters somehow, although power has always been the meta. I recall Ramone laughing on stream when they released Ozzie Smith because he couldn’t hit the ball past the infield. The bronze Neikro as well, lmao. Yeah, ‘18 was cheeks.

The games a mess.

Why would they need a patch when the game released 10x better then this? They coulda left the game alone and worked on fixing some of the pitching issues instead of putting out a panic patch to bring everyone’s averages and ERAs down.
-
Definitely not. But it does get frustrating, mainly because I truly thought this year was going to be better than we could have even imagined.
Oh well, I guess there is still some hope though. Very early yet.

CardinalBird sounds like my kind of person. lol
Someone else with some common sense.
-
Releasing a patch to fix hitting, when most of the community was still playing on veteran difficulty was asinine. Of course averages and HR's were up on the easiest difficulty level in the game.
You'd think they would at least wait until one person had reached world series before jacking up the game.
Hopefully they return it to the release state and let it play out.
-
Its dumb anyway because who cares if the top 0.5% of the player base has unrealistic batting averages? Now half the players are struggling to hit .200 and that's not realistic either, or fun.
-
A lot of people are finding out that they’re not as good as they thought they were in 18 and 19, are there some issues with fielding and pitching? Yea there are, but hitting is pretty [censored] close to being great.
Also, CB5 has been a constant complainer since the game got more popular and people started to pass him in the game.

The first two players to make WS are agreeing that hitting is broken. Since that's not you, I'll agree with them and the majority of the community.
Nice flex attempt though
