Future Stars Showdown

Taking advantage of the Extreme week (I am giving it a miss) by finishing up some of the earlier programs.
I’m at 118/150 points in the FS program. Considering trying the Showdown. Anyone play it recently? It’s worth 20 points and could push me thru this slog of a program pace.
I know SDS said something about making Showdown’s a bit more straight forward. Looking for some opinions.
Thanks!!

It was relatively easy . I usually draft speed and bunting ability , bunt cheese my way through it . I believe I finished it in one go.
-
For me it was the easiest showdown, finished it on the first try without issue
-
Thanks all. Gave it a try. The game gave me the Rodriguez showdown. Corbin Carroll hit a foul pole homer with one out remaining.
Didn’t make it past Pfaadt. Perfect/perfect ground ball DP, their first baseman made like Keith Hernandez in his prime, 100 mph exit velocity fly balls dying on the track
Never even got a hit off him.
Bottom line, Showdown’s haven’t changed a bit.
Hopefully, SDS can see stats that folks are avoiding showdowns like the plague. Make them more straightforward.

Showdowns are easy. People aren't avoiding them, just you.

What a pointless response. Wow there are a lot of narcissistic people on these forums that think their little snarky comments matter. Just because you and I find showdowns not difficult doesn't mean others don't. Plenty of people avoid them. Try stepping away from being in love with yourself and your mad skills for a few minutes and realize thousands of people of all skill levels play this game and they have a right to their opinion and views as well.
I guess whatever you have to do to fill that emptiness in your life bro.

To the OP for its worth this is my strategy for all showdowns
For starters I hope nobody worries about actually filling proper positions it means nothing.
Make sure your lineup isn't unbalanced with too many right or left handed hitters since we can't preview pitchers. As you draft new players keep balancing so in the later showdown challenges you can set the best line up when you see the pitcher you are gonna face. The highest rated with most power isn't always the best. Good vision and decent speed is way more important.
When you first start substitute the scrubs on your bench with the highest speed guys you can. You should be able to add a few between 78 and 88 if you're lucky they'll be one in the 90s. They are great for pinch running when you need that run scored from 2nd. As you improve your team always keep at least 2 high speed guys on the bench you'll almost never need a pinch hitter so just keep 1 or 2 tops.
Always take these 3 perks in any order if you can. Eagle Eye, Hero Time, and Rally Time. From silver to diamond as you upgrade.
The above works for me in all showdowns and I've had a pretty easy go with them this year. Hope it helps.

Thank you for these tips. I already use most of them. I do draft for a combo of vision/power instead of vision/speed. I may try a different draft strategy next time ( if there is a next time)
I do sub out for speed from the bench. I don’t worry about positions. I take more pitches than I care to. . Rally time and hero time are my go to. I haven’t used Eagle Eye. I’ll try that one and see. I think I often go with green light.
I wonder if the fact that I “push buttons” solely and let the CPU field and run for me puts me at a distinct disadvantage?
I tried bunting in this one for the first time ever, gave up after 5 consecutive pop ups to IF. Thankfully, I had a bunch of outs still left.
The biggest adjustment SDS could make for Showdown’s is to have the CPU team simply field to their ratings.
That would make that mode much more enjoyable. IMO.
Again, thanks for taking the time for a thoughtful response. Not just “get gud”.

No problem. Another thing people fail to take into account besides individual skill level is that everyone plays differently so not every strategy like mine, play style, or batter/pitcher type is a one size fits all. Some cards guys rake with I can't hit with and some I like people hate. Most strategies aren't strategy at all but exploiting weakness in the game and everyone has their own success with different ones.
So overall, but definitely showdowns, it's important to know the type of hitters you have the most success with and to learn what you do well at exploiting the games flaws. I used to be terrible at showdowns and avoided them at all cost but since this game changes very little year to year I have a pretty good grasp on my strengths, the cards I'll use, and what I'm decent enough at exploiting. If you happen to play enough eventually you'll find your sweet spot.
Good luck buddy and keep grinding 🤟

You don't need to do the showdown to complete the program. I have a spreadsheet that helps plan the route you want to take to finish it. If you want to use it, PM me. And, regardless of what @cardinals588_PSN thinks - there are people shunning (or avoiding) the showdowns. I am one of them - and there are plenty more too.

Thanks Blind_Bleeder. I did finish the program last evening. Was just trying to shortcut it by trying the Showdown.
Played about 8 vs CPU games on Veteran. Followed someone’s suggestion ( don’t remember who - but thanks!!!) and started working my way thru all the MLB teams.
I think I scored at least 10 runs each time and the highlights were two perfect games by Miller! One against the Yankees. Which I loved!!
Anyway, that program is done. Now, looking at Fathers Day.
Thanks for the reply!!
