Matchmaking by ping makes 100% sense. This will solve everything.
That’s wht I want, let them dudes with questionable internet play against themselves
I get tired of playing people using wifi in their caves. Miserable experience.
So just this past week I played a guy and his guys were warping all over the field. This is a pretty common occurrence for me to see. I message him how bad his internet is and tell him to feed that hamster running his internet. He proceeds to tell me to get gud and hits 3 HR's in a row while messaging after every one. I was to the not giving a [censored] stage and already triggered because the game wasn't fun. Next inning he disconnects. Advised him to hold that L and to feed the hamster.
Although this was very satisfying see him disconnect, why was I even matched up with this guy?
Why do you always match up with people in caves?
I live in a major city so I usually match up with other urbanites near me. 90% of my matches have good to great connections.
I guess you can have the best internet Misery has to offer but as long as you live in a flyover state your P2P experience will be miserable because most of your neighbors aren't into baseball or are still using dial up or hamsters.
Google fiber is one of, if not the best, internets in the United States. I match up with coast people almost as much as regional. Are you near or in one of the server cities? That would explain your great connections. Most likely means you are never connecting to other servers.

No, I am in Tempe, Arizona. Match up with a lot of AZ guys and New Mexico and Southern California.

Actually, I think there is a server in Southern Ca which is pretty close. If you are always connecting to that server, I could see your games being smooth. I am 8-9 driving hours to the closest one to me (Chicago) and I am quite certain I have a lot of games that don't connect to that server.

Where are the servers located in the US just curious

How to know where they are playing from? Without asking of course

No way to know, I asked sometimes after laggy games end and they usually say they are on WiFi or live in a city far away from me. It’s the matchmaking system that needs improvement, people will do the best they can.

Current gen vs Old gen is always a bad experience too

I honestly never use internet speeds as my problem if I lose. Just looks like a sorry excuse. I play at home with really good fiber internet and I also play in really bad hotel public internet that I pray I don't disconnect. If I lose it's because of me or I play someone just flat out better (unless it disconnects and I automatically forfeit).

Not for sure but rumor was Florida, Texas, Colorado, Chicago, NY, California and another on the west coast maybe Seattle.

I'll preface this by saying I don't give a [censored] if I win or lose, I just want a fun online gaming experience that doesn't include 120 mph wiffle balls, delay in stealing and tagging up along with a host of other things.
Question is if they match me with wired fiber in KC against someone playing on hotel wifi in NY and connect to the NY server, do you really think that is going to be a good experience for me? They need ping based match making that pings closely to the server for both players. If they are doing that, they are not doing a very good job.
