Set 1 cards as of 7-7-23

So by now we all know that when Season 3 drops on the 7th of July; Set 1 cards will no longer be usable.
But wait, some of you may say that we can still use one in a Wild Card spot and for most offline modes.
That is true. But chances are you won't accumulate any mission progress with said player.
IE: You want to use Set 1 Chipper at third base. By then TA 3 will be out and any PXP you earn with Chipper WONT go towards that TA's Team Mission Progress.
So, why would someone waste a spot with a card that won't get you mission progress, when that's the main aspect of DD?
Also, you can't have only one WC spot. A hitter or a pitcher.
But what if someone wants to use the WBC SP Ohtani as their WC and they play them as one of their starting pitchers. Now, you can also make him your DH. I'm assuming that won't be the case as that would technically mean that you have two WC spots.
Why would someone want to use a card, other than it's their favorite player, knowing that you won't get any mission progress with that card?

The Conquests have the Season2 requirement but im pretty sure when we actually have a WC option, that WC will count as part of the season 3 team. I dont see them not allowing set 1 cards to accumulate pxp.

I'm not sure if you misunderstood my original post or if I'm misunderstanding this reply.
I know you'll still be able to get PXP for that card, to parallel them, but I could've sworn I saw, or heard, that once a Set is 'expired' even though you can still earn PXP with that card it will only help parallel that card. None of the PXP will go towards the current Season Programs (unless they allow that option in said program).
Of course, we won't really know, for sure, until the 7th of July.
