Pregame Lineup Construction Idea for DD/SDS
-
Been a show player for many many years but did take last years game off. Bought it but never played. Not sure how how my post compares to last years game.
Lineup construction based on matchups is a pretty common and a real part of baseball. I hate that we don’t get to see if we are facing a righty or lefty in the pre game lineup construction. BUT i understand why they don’t, as people with a full lefty lineup would just back out if they saw they were starting against a lefty. I know that’s how it was in ‘21 and before.
How about we somehow compromise and create a real penalty for people who get to the line up screen and then back out if they don’t like the match up they are about to play? Whether it be losing XP -online playing time penalty - or losing rating points for the ranked season. Maybe someone has a better idea but those are what popped into my head as some ways to potentially make people actually consider whether it’s worth backing out.
Or does the community like the way it currently? Just would love to hear other people’s thoughts

They could make it where its matchup based but using the same roster. That would make it impossible to stack all lefties or all righties unless you had alot of switch hitters

I think something like this would be good to. How about you set a lineup before even entering a game? So when setting your main roster in DD, you also setup a lineup vs. RHP and lineup vs. LHP and then it uses either one based on the other teams starter but you still don't see it in the lineup screen so you can't back out.

Nope nope. It would be so annoying having to pitch against all lefty lineups or all righty lineups. There is already enough good switch hitters as it is.

It’s actually an easy fix. Just use the one suggested here.
On your manage team you set it Vs R and L.
Platooning is part of baseball.
The real problem then becomes this….more and more players start using “openers” and then switch right after the game starts or after one inning.
Open with a lefty to set your opponent’s lineup as their one to face Lefties…and then bring in a righty to screw them.
SDS could always add a 3rd lineup you set as your “safe” option that starts against openers only…but now you’re building 3 lineups.
And I’m sure there would be plenty of glitches…there always is. Just being honest.️

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think the penalty system would be implemented well. See ranked coop where freeze off or losing connection has caused problems for people. Further to maybe have what you’re saying would be a blank card that just says lefty or righty and limiting moves of day your bench to swapping a player or two. Ppl quit often enough in loading screens if you hit x too fast or don’t scroll down lol.

Thats a good point on the "opener" thing, hadn't considered that.
