Anyone feel like the games not that fun this year?

You aren't alone dude. I've only played I think 17 ranked games this year? In comparison to previous years, its crazy low. I find most of the time I fire up the game I'm stuck grinding moments or conquests agains the CPU just so i can try and keep pace with what's been coming out but I agree in this sense the game has lost a bit of it's flare. Absolute heaven for those who can log 30-40 hours a week playing the game, but for us casuals who can only play a few hours this ain't for us. The only thing in the past that helped was flipping cards, and even that now is 4x the grind it used to be.
With that said, gameplay is fantastic. Just copped a PS5 a few weeks back and my goodness what a difference....I actually WANT to play the game again.

SDS knows this. And they do it on purpose, in the hopes that eventually the monotonous, mundane tasks will become too much...and in order to complete the "task" SOME people will just "give in" and BUY Stubs.
…
They see that the grind will be endless...or they will have to buy Stubs to stay competitive and keep completing all the tasks.Solid take, and I’m sure you’re not wrong at all with regard to that particular trait being taken advantage of— or monetized, which I think is more to the point. People clearly have a problem with this, but I really don’t; in what other endeavor is “collecting” not monetized?
People who collect pay a price for that, either in time and effort by, say, traveling and scouring through the inventories of various sources of new and second-hand goods, looking for those rare treasures, or they simply know what they want and they buy it with a mark-up from a broker. It takes tedious effort, or it takes money.
Personally, I see that aspect of this game as fodder for a side hustle. Why shouldn’t SDS make some scratch off of that impulse to collect and complete, if that’s what people want to pursue? This game is a baseball video game, and all of that is extra, and entirely optional.
Those who feel like the price they pay in either effort or money is too high have every right to voice their displeasure, but can ultimately choose to play the game, or not. If SDS finds their decisions lead to too many people walking away, they’ll adjust. Or they won’t. Me, I’m just groovin’ on this baseball game.

that is a wonderful take - i hear you mate - ive been playing this game since inception and i can tell you that is the best approach mentally - i play far less than in yesteryears but when i make or have some time to game, then i look forward to it - rather than a continuous slog day in and day out - when we are also coming into summer season here where its awesome outside to do real life [censored]

I appreciate the content but it feels a little too grindy for me. Personally I don’t have hours upon hours to dedicate to grinding TA against the computer on rookie to finish all the missions. Yes, you can field a good team with free cards but you can’t field a great team without spending stubs. To me, it seems like most of the great cards are hidden behind packs you have to buy or purchase through the marketplace.
Personally, I’m happy with the way the game is playing but it’s been kinda exhausting to play. BR is fun cause everyone’s fielding an even team. I’m not saying I don’t like the game, I do like it, I’m just a little tired of it at this point. I’m curious to hear how others are feeling at this stage of the cycle.
I’ve been playing 442 hours since I got the game 4 days early. I get whatever cards I get and I never put money into the game outside purchase price. I don’t feel the need to have every card.

It’s way too grindy and the game is already dead on Xbox. Last year it was in the top 10 through August it’s already out of the top 20 this year on Xbox live.

yes. i love the content and new gameplay improvements but it's too much of a grind. TA is too much this year. The other programs I dont mind as much because imo it has the right amount of grind.

I was surprised to see if fell off the top 10 list for gamepass. The last 2 versions it was all the way up to #2 at some point in the gamepass top 10 and would hover around #3 to #6 for most of the year.
I do see EA games are back on top like FIFA , NHL, and Madden still. They each have 3 spots in the gamepass top 10.
I don't play online so not sure how it is online on xb.

I prefer this years model. You can do a lot more as far as team building and I like the new card packs every week. The grind is a lot but that’s what I play the game for if I’m being honest, having every card collected and programs being complete is when this game gets boring for me. I don’t enjoy every card being easy to obtain like it was the last couple of years. I like how there is still no cards out of reach, like I don’t have to go 12-0 to get Billy Wagner or reach World Series to get endgame Mays I can play the program for those modes if there is a card I want. Basically there is a lot of ways to go about playing this year and I’m not going to get everything I want the second I want it which is a good spot for this game to be in if you ask me. I’m not going to get bored in the foreseeable future
