Doobie’s Night at the Plate
-
Softball season is back boys and girls
Knocked some rust off tonight and the boys managed to get the W 26-6
To preface, Doobie is 6’3 pushing 255 so he’s not exactly Lou Brock on the basepaths or Goldschmidt with the glove at 1B. But what he can do is mash from the right side of the plate reminding the crowd of Daniel Vogelbach
We’re on a new field this year. Doobie no longer has a short porch to right. On this new field, you have to get all of it to send one out
First AB, surprised myself and lined one into the gap in right center, legged out a double. I’ll take it to start the season. Thought my golf swing would screw me. That was more running than I’d like first AB
Second AB, high fly to right and I thought I had all of it. Their RF botches it and I end up pimping a “double” (more like E9)
Third AB, can of corn. Fourth AB we hit a seed on the ground to the first basemen, he misplays it, Doobie legs out another “double”
Overall, I’m satisfied and the boys start the year 1-0
Will report back with updates next Wednesday

Looking forward to it.

Sounds like my softball beer league. Every hit is a double unless you’re hurt lol

My goal is to go yard so I don’t have to run. I’ll take doubles all night though
Beers definitely flowing

You not getting supercharged for 1-4 with a double

100% agree
What qualifies to get supercharged in softball?

I’d honestly qualify the first line drive in the gap as a P/P so I went 1.000 on those lol

Figured I’d bring this lighthearted topic back given some of the hot debates within a ton of other threads currently

Nice thread.... thanks for sharing. LoL

Ooooh, you gotta remember "ordinary effort" when charging errors. That shot to 1B is probably a hit in our league. Anything hit on a line to first or third is probably going through (or killing someone). The deep ball to right is tougher because I didn't see it, but anything more than 7-8 steps away is beyond "ordinary effort" to me. No one's racing from shading left-of-center into the deep right-center gap like OFs in this game in our league.
I'd say you went 2-4 or probably 3-4. Since they're all doubles, you're slugging above 1.000. Give that man a supercharge.

Love the generosity lol
The ground ball to the 1B was roped but right at him.
The deep fly to right was “a few steps” in front of the wall per the RF once I chatted him up when he got on base and asked how deep it got

I got roped into pitching lol, not my favorite when the mound is only like 50 feet away

I commend you sir, it takes balls to pitch in softball especially when the league has good players.
I try to pull the ball and not go up the middle as a courtesy but come playoff time, I’m going up the middle if the pitch is right
