Showdowns

Idk why but these team affinity showdowns are way harder than they should be. I know I’m not the best at this game but I’ve never struggled to complete one of these and now all of a sudden it’s taking me 2-3 times to finish these!!!! I feel for some reason hitting in these have been messed with. It making these cards look pointless

I don't think they should necessarily be setup so everyone beats them easily the first time. 2-3 times isn't all that crazy.
-
They probably made it a little bit of a challenge because its not mandatory to finish TA
-
They don't mess with any parts of the game to make a specific part of the mode difficult.
The way I do Showdown is if I fail I try to remember the scenario and draft accordingly and pick the right perks... try not to rush through it ie swinging at every pitch and/or swing at bad pitches (balls out of the zone and borderline strikes)... I try to lock in and commit to beating it versus making it a time thing and just trying to get it over with in as little time as possible. Force the CPU to through you strikes and you will be fine. Yes there will be some perfect perfects hit for outs and there will be some "unbelievable" gold glove worthy plays made against you in the field but I promise if you make solid contact consistently and advance your runners with hits, outs and stolen bases you will be fine.

If you don’t think sliders are cranked up in showdown you haven’t ever played showdown. The different modes absolutely play differently. Showdowns, conquest, online play, mini seasons and play vs cpu all play very differently from pitch speeds to fielding to pci size just to name a few.

the only difference is difficulty level and also depends on the individual players ratings but these modes do not play differently outside of Showdown giving you x amount of outs to win the game vs 3 outs per inning in a "regulation" 3- or 9-inning game.

Veteran in showdowns and moments is way different than Veteran in conquest and play vs CPU. Just my observation and opinion

100%
And Franchise seems to be the least 'doctored' mode. Free of dev. tinkering for the most part

I was struggling with showdowns, but recently came up with a strategy that worked for me. I took until 2 strikes unless the pitch was thrown down the middle. I did accidentally swing at a lot of pitches that were not down the middle but not enough to change the end result. Do not get frustrated. I then went with my usual approach where I control the sticks if I got to 2 strikes. The perk priority is to first use 7th inning or later exit velocity or vision. After that I used 2 strike exit velocity or vision. I think it is critical to have the 2 strike perk as you are going to do a lot of 2 strike hitting. The pitchers are going to throw strikes so do not expect walks, but still be patient as that helps lowers the pitchers energy. Do not get frustrated if things are not going your way.
