Why is it extra small against sliders? Did they say anything about it during pre-launch streams?
-
I had not noticed that, but it makes sense as to why it seems to be such a dominating pitch this year.

Right, I will be now looking for pitchers with a good slider, low and away it’s a guaranteed ground out

This actually makes a ton of sense, and explains a lot.
For us casual players who don’t use zone hitting we can not hit any breaking balls unless it’s right down the middle. Matter of fact put this to a test and any breaking pitch not down the middle only makes contact 2 out of 8 times on hof or higher.
That’s just not acceptable, doesn’t need to be a hit but shouldn’t be striking out on this.
As a player who plays offline diamond dynasty, not competitively, this makes me start to shy away from the mode towards fantasy.
Which probably isn’t the best thing for sds as I’m a player who enjoy collecting cards, has a fairly decent job and doesn’t mind spending money to do so since I don’t have time to grind.
Since the patch it seems also that not only did the pitching switch effect user pitching but also ai pitching. So now the ai doesn’t make many mistake pitches and can nail the corner which is an unhittable pitch for us casual players.
Playing a mini season with a team of a record of 12-3 on hall of fame but 90% of the wins are extra innings with a sac fly is just no longer rewarding enough to play

i get the casual player argument, but no, they have catered to the casual player enough, team building simplified, not pay to win, etc. The ranked program basically hands out free stubs, making directional even a tad better would be bad for the game.

Something I had no idea about until a random reddit comment last week was that the pitcher's velocity attribute does effect timing windows. Righty Righty low and away slider has been my hardest pitch to hit and Achilles heal this year and I am always early or late. I even do custom practice for just that pitch all the time. Now that you mentioned that it would make sense as well as with what I said on why it is so hard to hit. Wonder if the PCI size is smaller if it is a pitchers primary (A button) pitch.

I doubt directional is crushing it. Just throw them a bunch of sliders/off speed pitches low and they won’t be able to make contact.
If you are a casual player but trying to play ranked seasons you are no longer a casual player but competitive so if they made it mandatory to use pci that’s fine with me.
But for someone like myself who plays offline my fun has no effect on people trying to climb the ranked season ladder it’s in their interest to fix that portion of the game.
The game was fine pre patch, all i ask to fix the pci so that my mini season games on hof and no longer 1-0 no hit wins with the winning team getting a sac fly in extras

But don’t you think anything that breaks over the zone is the easiest to time up and hit? I feel like I’ve hit more PP with sliders breaking away than any other pitch.
