Get rid of max elevation stadiums with 200 foot fences
-
Elevation is way over powered in this game. It matters way more than a players ability. IRL it does make a difference, but it is exponentially more of a difference in game. Playing at Miami, Houston or San Diego shouldn't be so nerfed, and playing at that new Minor league field, Coors and Laughing Mountain shouldn't be so insane.
-
So are they getting rid of that stupid drop down scoreboard? It's horrible .
-
They should just get rid of max elevation of 5279. Cap it at 2500 or something cause if people wanna play Home Run Derby they can play that specific mode
-
Playing high elevation 90 percent of the time gets old very fast. I wish we could filter out stadiums but I’m sure that would hurt the matchmaking because most people pick laughing mountain or coors.

It’s not rocket science. Set a max elevation and max and minimum distance for fences and set dimension parameters for anything allowed online. Took me 30 seconds to think of a solution. I’m sure somebody is getting paid to tackle these tough questions.
Or even better NO created stadiums online.

I can deal with laughing Mountain or Coors, at least those have deep walls and usually aren't super obnoxious. Created garbage and old Shitpit are/were way worse

Just lost a BR game 17-13 in extras. Was up 8-1 going to bottom third and 13-8 in bottom 4th. Not fudging fun. Every pitcher I put out there could not stop giving up home runs. Not baseball and extremely demoralizing to see someone rewarded for creating a stadium that is high snoop dogg on 4/20.
I got one question... how did you get your runs?
-
@OreoRockstar_PSN said in Get rid of max elevation stadiums with 200 foot fences:
Online momentum is absurdly ridiculous. Once a relief pitcher gives up the first bomb, pretty much count on giving up 2 more before you can get him out. This game does need some massive gameplay adjustments and I have no confidence ( and I don’t think SDS does either) they can fix it.
Glad you feel the same way! This was an issue last year too but nowhere near as bad as the 23 version. And I’ve benefited from this on the hitting side too at times as it’s like pitch speed slow down and pci placement doesn’t matter when you’re hitting with the momentum as you’re squaring it up regardless. Completely unrealistic and frustrating.

You're both playing on the same field. If your opponent can score 13 runs and you can only score 8, that's a you problem. I like those fields ( I haven't used one in online play ) because it's usually a fun game, win or lose. I did have one last year that was 300ft to the corners and 400 to center with like 5ft walls and it was usually a slugfest. Some complained and would quit as soon as I hit a HR but again, their problem, not mine.

How is hitting nothing but HRs a fun game?
Seems pretty boring IMO but to each their own i guess.

Exactly, I think it’s a less enjoyable experience because of a desire for as close to baseball simulation experience as possible. Of course, I benefited from the stadium dimensions and elevation, but I don’t desire to play a 3 inning game that is 3 times of the scoring of an average 9 inning MLB game. There are going to be outliers with more scoring, but not like the one I brought up at the beginning of the thread. There’s no way to try and execute pitches to someone, because a cutter low and away, lefty lefty, is pulled and popped up for…… a homer. I execute the pitch to produce a fly out and it sails out over a 290 foot fence with max elevation. Nowhere, besides the Yankee Stadium short porch on occasion with the wind blowing out is that a homer. However, if people enjoy that home run derby style of game, either play that mode, or maybe there should be a separate online mode that has its own reward program with home run derby players, like the events has had in the past. But a normal ranked or BR game should be more controlled to a baseball simulation style of play. Gameplay has been great on this game when playing in the average baseball stadium. I hope they consider a cap to elevation or minimum to fence distance in competitive online play or remove created stadiums from the competitive play and leave them in for casual/events.

Those kinds of fields make me focus even more. If you don't execute a pitch, you won't get away with it. In a regular field I can get away with a 380ft fly out. Yes you'll sometimes get burned by a pitch that was perfect but the same can happen when you're at bat. I'm not saying I like those fields every game but sometimes it's fun to flex your power all game.

They just lowered Shippitt's elavation. Laughing mountain is still 5005 ft(you can only see it in game history)

So they brought it back up? In 22 they lowered both, and it was specifically mentionned in their pre-release streams.
Also, didn't they have some standards for custom stadiums regarding outfield walls? Did they remove them too?

Laughing mountain was never lowered. It was the most commonly used stadium last year by a long shot. Without elevation it would be like playing at forbes full time.

Man, I don't want to be a [censored], but if it "weren't lowered", either:
-
SDS blatantly lied during their broadcasts; or
-
They course corrected later in the year.
So which is it?

If you can show me where they said they lowered the elevation of all minor league stadiums I'll believe you. It was only Shippitt. And I don't even remember them saying so on stream it was just found out by the community
I didn't play 8-10 road games at LM last year because it looked nice
-
-
You really think I'm going to go back and listen to every stream pre 22 release?? Fine, don't believe me, but I guarantee you they did. They specifically named these 2 stadiums, adding that now only Colorado has meaningful elevation, and that all minor league stadiums were basically neutral.
The reason why it struck me is that I loved to play at LMP, basically having a Coors Field but without the stutter or latency.
*edit: I'm also open to the idea that they were wrong when they said it, and never bothered to correct themselves; but they absolutely, 100% said it.
