Why did they decide to come out with 99's right off the jump? it's so awful like this, I understand at the allstar break... and late in the year to start pumping out super cards... but I don't understand the logic behind it. Also after 50 days base set 1 you can't use in ranked? so why did I grind my eyes out for these cards?... I'm remaining hopeful SD studios knows what they are doing but it's not looking good.

i just dont see the point of coming on here, trashing the game, if you're not even playing it and then when someone calls you on it you bring up your years of experience If you dislike the game so much why even bother comment, and just move on from it. some of the guys here brought up some good points though to be the devils advocate here - i know you are passionate about this game Raes but its true that this game is in the best shape its been since 2017 and i know you would appreciate that - the tech test i also tried out, it was horrible - completely a joke - this game today feels nothing like the tech test in case that helps

some of the guys here brought up some good points though to be the devils advocate here - i know you are passionate about this game Raes but its true that this game is in the best shape its been since 2017 and i know you would appreciate that - the tech test i also tried out, it was horrible - completely a joke - this game today feels nothing like the tech test in case that helps
couldnt have said it better, i was really down on 21 and 22, but this from a online standpoint, i havent enjoyed ranked this much since 17.

I haven’t even logged on in 4 days. Usually I’m playing DD at least an hour or two a day for the first month of its release.
Just have zero motivation to do anything. I might find more interest when Set 2 drops. Going after Set 1 cards just seems pointless when they’ll be unusable in July. I’d rather wait and go after cards I’m going to use for more of the “prime” of the game for me.
Maybe Topps Now or POTM can pull me back. It just seems incredibly stale and I knew it would with this strategy as soon as they announced it. I just love baseball and knew I’d at least enjoy RTTS. I’m glad gameplay is noticeably better though.

i just dont see the point of coming on here, trashing the game, if you're not even playing it and then when someone calls you on it you bring up your years of experience If you dislike the game so much why even bother comment, and just move on from it. Again have your opinion its fine but when others call you on it dont act surprised.

Because I want this game and this franchise to be better. In order to get there, they don't need yes men. They need people who provide fair criticism. Constructive, yes. And I know what you're probably thinking, "but Raes you're not being very constructive". And I would say maybe not. But if you have been around here long enough, then you would know that I am actually providing constructive criticism 90% of the time ever since I started posting here. The other 10% is me being disappointed that this franchise is not moving in the right direction, if they're moving at all.

some of the guys here brought up some good points though to be the devils advocate here - i know you are passionate about this game Raes but its true that this game is in the best shape its been since 2017 and i know you would appreciate that - the tech test i also tried out, it was horrible - completely a joke - this game today feels nothing like the tech test in case that helps
I still talk to many people who I used to compete with and unfortunately they share a different perspective. Also my gripe isn't per se about how the game plays from purely a hitting and pitching perspective. I have always made that clear. They can balance that a million times and some people will still be unhappy. No, my gripe is that the engine of this game, the core and the backbone of all systems hasn't changed in well over 6 years. The game is not optimized for current gen consoles (PS5/XSX/S). The netcode is laughable, freezing of online games still happens after I don't know how many years. Peer to peer connection is the same as before, it's just not good. These are the things that make or break the experience for me and they are always left untouched. Some new program and a few 99s at launch isn't gonna distract me from that, ever.

wouldnt captain boosts help your theme team? as the past would not have? Also the majority of people that are playing ranked are using the high overall cards, thats every ultimate team type mode not just mlb.

from me to you though - this has been by far the best since 2017 - id love to see someone say otherwise and no one is arguing about how poor 18/19/20/21 were
the price of this game for X hours of enjoyment is less than a nice lunch date too - something to keep in mind on relative value vs. enjoyment of time

My theory us that if they dangle 99s in front of our faces for the full year then people will spend more money.
It just makes me not want to play the game. What's the point in grinding when 8 hours in you have a team full of 97s? Day 1 ranked is full of outlier lol, not thanks.

ill be the devils advocate here and say mate that i personally hate having to grind a year to get a good team - and then start at 0 again just a few months later - it is completely unfulfilling - offline is also trash for me a useless waste of my real life time - i only do this now to build the team i want then i go into online play - this way on the new system we leave off last year playing new cards all good instead of PAINSTAKING bronzes and silvers / commons

Fair argument. To me though, I for once did not feel like giving them my money for a product where they did not do the absolute best they could. If you would ask every single developer over at SDS the question "is this the absolute best you could do?", what do you expect their answer would be? That's an honest question, not a rhetorical one. To me that's food for thought and motivation to stay away until things do change.

I don’t care what the majority of people do. Like I said, I’m glad you like it, but it’s not for everyone. I’m just giving my opinion because this change really disappointed me. The previous system wasn’t broke, SDS just needed to tweak it. This just feels lazy. Instead of carefully planning overall increases, they just drop 99s and call it good.
Captain boosts are cool but then you have to use cards with that specific team. So they’d either need to let us change the team on cards to any team that player played for or it’s not going to work that well. From what I’ve seen, captain boosts just seem to make LS cards more relevant. I like that, but I’d much rather use a 97 Blackmon that’s in the game than his silver boosted with captain boosts.
If they just said “screw it, we can use all of the cards all year.” I’d be way more accepting of it. I just really hate them telling what cards I can and can’t use when they’re in my inventory. Leave that stuff in BR and Events.

99's are NOT the problem it's the fact this game is kind of a mess with bugs and systems that still need tweaking and such and little to no word from SDS unless you count mass bans and such. You all wonder why I was railing against 2 or 3 -- 50k stub packs in a 10 day period when the game was not ready it was not just the greed factor but that did play a big part in my posts I will admit. Now I am wondering if the fanboys are so willing to stick up for the garbage or will you still be like SDS is the best and you should just get good or whatever.
I still think the people who work on the game are good but the suites for SDS are the one's who are not so much and will leave it at that.

I haven’t even logged on in 4 days. Usually I’m playing DD at least an hour or two a day for the first month of its release.
Just have zero motivation to do anything. I might find more interest when Set 2 drops. Going after Set 1 cards just seems pointless when they’ll be unusable in July. I’d rather wait and go after cards I’m going to use for more of the “prime” of the game for me.
Maybe Topps Now or POTM can pull me back. It just seems incredibly stale and I knew it would with this strategy as soon as they announced it. I just love baseball and knew I’d at least enjoy RTTS. I’m glad gameplay is noticeably better though.
listen to how you worded unusable in july, almost as if cards in past years became "unusable in july" as the games card balance system would always pick up.
The cards were useable for me though. I run a TT in Ranked so this system has completely screwed my DD experience. But im glad you like it. Not everyone runs meta teams and the shiny new cards.
wouldnt captain boosts help your theme team? as the past would not have? Also the majority of people that are playing ranked are using the high overall cards, thats every ultimate team type mode not just mlb.
I don’t care what the majority of people do. Like I said, I’m glad you like it, but it’s not for everyone. I’m just giving my opinion because this change really disappointed me. The previous system wasn’t broke, SDS just needed to tweak it. This just feels lazy. Instead of carefully planning overall increases, they just drop 99s and call it good.

set one cards you can use till season 3, and after season 3 all cards are avaible to use. So missing out on set 1, you're only missing one season, i do think the captain boosts should be team captains not live series captains, and then adding the chemistry system i.e madden would also help theme teams that in my opinion is opening the door for next year. Its a step towards building TT's
