Why don't Events have Matchmaking?
-
I don't have the extra money to spend on stubs to get the cards in the event reward path and am below average when it comes to hitting and every event game I play is some player able to pinpoint every corner and crush every pitch I throw. If the only people in events are sweats how exactly can the rest of us compete for these rewards? I've spent the last 2 hours losing every single event game I have tried to play, and honestly it sucks. I do all the normal suggestions "Go into Practice mode hur hur" and play and play, but something between my vision and my age makes events balls feel unhittable.
Sorry for the vent, but I really wanted to try this online stuff this year and week 1 I'm ready to never play online again, what is the point when there aren't enough restrictions to decks and no matchmaking so us casual peeps just get crushed

I've struggled in events this year too, so I feel you there. Maybe do the BR program? At least the playing field is even there, cards wise at least

Do you think all these players just happened to wake up one day and all of a sudden be really good at this game?
Also, before you get defensive;

You quit after a week. It took me 2 years to get decent at this game. -

You quit after a week. It took me 2 years to get decent at this game.I've played the Show for the last 5 years while playing some online each year, I'm definitely not new to the game but at some point I don't know what more I can do other then not play events, then not be able to complete collections, so what's the point then as a collector?
I have issues with my thumbs so I just can't do pinpoint and analog just leaves everything hanging no matter where I try to put it

Like others said, maybe focus on BR to start. Lots of good rewards. Technically, you don't even have to win to get them. Just grind out the program.

I hear you and that sucks for you, I mean that and not in a snarky way. But my question would be, what is it that you want them to do about that? I guess that's why there is the ability to purchase stubs, but since that's also not an option you said, I don't really know what to tell you?
If it's just about the stubs though, you can make a lot of stubs without actually playing this game. That way you can still complete your collections and enjoy the game offline. What you want to do is look for YouTube videos that explain how to flip cards on the market. Long story short, you look for items in the community market that have a significant gap between the buy now and sell now listings, and you try to buy low and sell high just like you would on a real stock market. There are millions of stubs to be made if you do this efficiently and consistently. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but it seems like that's your only option to achieve what you're looking for? -

Flipping is dumb (not offense if you enjoy it) and any time I try I get stuck with something I don't want. Just feel like events should be a gateway to online play. And as I type this I throw a change up in the dirt that gets no doubted into the stands, if I can't throw in the dirt and I can't throw in the zone, I just don't know what to do

Right. Well, I tried offering you an option that seems to fit your wishes despite flipping being dumb. I don't like it either, but it works. You could also, like me, choose to not play this game. That way you wouldn't have to deal with any of the frustration and I can tell you first hand.. it's great.

I appreciate the attempt to help, and honestly as much as I enjoy this game DD is the only thing that interests me due to the history of baseball but I missed out on the major collection cards last year due to so many being tied to this terrible online system and already am feeling that it's gonna be worse this year, I wish I hadn't bought the DD edition and feel like I should be playing. I'm like 2-14 on the day, and am frusterated because I don't feel like I am anywhere near the level of people I'm playing (Maybe events just aren't for casual players I guess? [censored] us then)

I always do bad in the events. Before yesterday, I was 1-16 in the event. I use metered pitching and am being punished severely/ But I did start finding a groove, but you have to keep playing in order to keep up with the timing.
Remember, events don't count so you can lose all you want. It just takes patience my friend.

I hardly ever play events. It’s Ranked or Offline (conquest, mini seasons) for me. Ranked will match you with equal competition and if you go on a losing streak you’re bound to find someone worse than you. Plus you can get rewards just from the program itself even without winning.
Conquest is something I just chip away at as it can get pretty boring if you only play that for a week straight. But you get stubs and pack’s every time you complete the USA map.
Mini Seasons has pretty solid rewards and is less time consuming compared to conquest.
I know this doesn’t solve your frustration in events but there’s other ways to get rewards to get you to your collection goals. Events and BR are just such a toss up because they’re usually in a wild stadium and in only 3 innings, all it takes is a little bad luck and you’re screwed.
