Couple questions about online play

Tried and finished the BR Program. It was ok. Was impossible to get strikes with Veteran pitchers. Anytime I had the chance to dead tone of them; everything near the zone was hit and nobody chased outside the zone.
I think I had 17 drafts where I had a Vet pitcher and when I hit the 100pts I was 5/10 in the mission.
Actually I think most of my points came from the repeatable Veteran PXP Mission.
I like that you could use a mix of cards. Wouldn't mind seeing that type of format in other online modes.
Playing the Event now and I'm flabbergasted.
I'm 1-10. And the most I've scored his 2 runs a game and that was once.
Not sure why I can put 15-20 runs up against the CPU on HOF difficulty; but can't score more than 1-2 games, if I'm lucky, on AS Difficulty. Are we sure there aren't sliders involved?
Also, how come 8/10 when I want to play a game I sit on my pitcher select screen, and sometimes the batting order screen, for at least 20 secs before my opponent picks a pitcher?
I think I've backed out of more H2H games, than I've actually played, because I got tired of waiting for my opponent to select a pitcher.
One time I actually sat there for almost 3 mins, because I wanted to see how long it would take them, before I decided to back out.
What gives?

It’s December and the pool of players is very shallow. I got four, nine inning games in ranked tonight that were all great! Maybe everyone online is playing ranked?

Yeah. But doesn't someone have to commit to playing that mode to get a game. You're still getting the 'opponent found' notification. So they're wanting to play BR or the event. They're just taking their sweet time selecting a pitcher.

I find hitting online to be incredibly difficult compared to offline and I think it is the variable lag that depends on each opponent makes timing pitches challenging. The pitch speeds are not consistent so finding the correct timing is my biggest problem.
I am just like you. I can grind through BR with enough redrafts and accumulate points to achieve the goals. Since Event is win or lose I gave up after reaching 5 wins to collect the first prize. -

I'm pretty sure lag has an effect on the pitch speed. Just funny that I can't get more than a few hits and a few runs when playing online.
I think since I have every card available, minus the stupid Uniforms, Icons, etc, I may just play Franchise mode and see if I can take the Pirates to the WS until 23 comes out.
