The Series S is definitely not on par with a PS5, but it is a solid 2nd or 3rd console if you haven't already invested in the Xbox ecosystem and you are looking for something new. It's a fantastic Game Pass machine, and you can get 3 years of Game Pass for $181 (an average of $5 per month). The internal memory is a bit of a joke, and as we get further into the current generation there are more new games which require it. You can store and run Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games from a standard / cheap external HDD. You can only run Xbox Series games off of the internal memory or a storage expansion card which is expensive (currently $199 for 1TB). The nice thing about the storage expansion is that if you eventually upgrade to a Series X, it's simply plug and play like PS2 style memory cards. Pop it out of the Series S, and you can start playing the installed games on a different console without skipping a beat.

I owned one for a year before passing it along to my brother and upgrading to a Series X. I highly recommend it to any gamer that is okay without having the best of the best. It is more than adequate for anyone on a budget or anyone looking for something smaller that's easy to travel with.

That's a great point. I travel with my old PS4 sometimes, and it's pretty bulky. Thanks for the tip.

If you don't have the money for a PS5 or XBX then XBS is fine. You won't get the graphical output but the output is still pretty good.

You can also convert gamepass for 3 years for $1.
