SDS and freezeoffs
-
I would just like for someone from SDS to acknowledge that freezeoffs exist and tell us whether:
A- there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it and we’re sorry.
B- We are trying to work on a solution.
It’s November. I’m trying to Grind Ranked for Randy and I shouldn’t have to take an L when I’m winning 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th(I’m home). My opponent has a WS icon and the Flawless bat skin so he’s obviously not a newbie. Any decent person would quit, but no. Just have to leave your system on and get the cheese win hoping your opponent quits.
CBrev, you’re one of us. I’ve watched your YouTube vids for the last two years. Got any insight? They need to at the VERY LEAST come up with a system that allows the team that’s winning to not take the loss. Even if has to go as a FQ or something. This is just so frustrating and it happens far too often. I shouldn’t have to go 2-0 in my next two games just to get back to where I should be right now.
I know these rants don’t solve anything 99% of the time but I just had to vent.

I don't think they'll ever acknowledge freeze offs. Only because I don't think it has anything to do with their end of the programming.
I would assume, in a freeze off, someone has lost connection for a short enough period that it doesn't kick them from the game but still registers the miniscule connection loss.
I'm afraid that until SDS decides to go to a dedicated server type scenario; freeze offs el always happen.

If that is indeed the case, then they can respond with answer A. We know it happens, but unfortunately nothing can be done. Ranked can be frustrating enough when the game plays “normal”. Adding freezeoff losses in games I’m a huge favorite to win just makes it 10x worse. Probably the reason I play the Events mostly.

That makes sense. But from a business side a company would never admit that their is something 'wrong' with the game unless they can fix it.
Freeze offs have happened yearly, for as long as I can remember, so it must not be a quick fix.
I agree with what you're saying; but it would be suicide for SDS to come out and say that they know freeze offs are an issue and that they don't know how to rectify them.
I'm not sure if other games have an issue with freeze off as this and some Madden are the only games I play right now.
I do remember back in the day, I think it was with Madden, that if someone lost connection the other person had a choice to either play the CPU or let the game end up as a Friendly Quit.
And if you chose to pay the CPU, and you ended up messing up, quitting would also give you the loss.
No clue what that can't happen with this game; unless it has something to do with the servers (peer to peer compared to dedicated).
Now, the freeze offs that used to happen when your opponent would do something specific were fixed because those weren't really considered loss of connection. It was human controlled.
Most freeze offs, I would say, how are just random. Heck I had one initiate when the catcher threw the ball back to my pitcher so I could throw the next pitch.
It has to be something with the connection.
I mentioned once about being able to see your opponent's connection, like you used to be able to in Madden, but that could open up a whole nothing issue with people backing out of a game.
Unfortunately; I think freeze offs are something that the community will have to deal with, like the estranged relative that only shows up at improbable moments, if you want to play online.

Sorry, but SDS could care less about toxic players. Their only goal is to separate the players from their money via microtransactions. If they actually cared they could fix the dashboard glitch that has cost me a very difficult completion for a player program, they could eliminate the bunt cheese glitch, but that would mean they would have to work, and cost them a little money, but they are beyond greedy.
Their lazy programmers are working on degrading the game play back to Triple play baseball, which was cartoon baseball basically. But no surprise, because that was an EA Sports game, and they are using their extreme greed as a template instead of a warning.
Many of us feel your pain on a daily basis, but if you think that they care even the tiniest bit about the players, then you are wasting your time. CBrev may be a streamer, but now he works for the machine, so don't expect him to do anything other than pretend he will do something and then come back to you with a fake sad face and say "well, I tried" and then go back to whatever it is he is doing these days.

I honestly think the freeze off problem is why (unless you're trying to make WS) wins don't matter this year in RS. Just get your innings and move on. I quit a freeze off last night even though I was winning and at home. Opponent refused to quit so I did so I could just get to the next game. I'm not going to make WS so I'm not concerned about my record. It only irritates me in BR or events where wins do matter. Next year they should make events more like BR so you can still get the rewards without really needing to win. Just complete missions to get points so freeze offs don't hurt so bad.

I hate when people intentionally freeze the game

Working as intended

I get what you’re saying, but I also want to make World Series. I’m not an elite player but I’m decent. Some seasons I’ve admittedly not put much time into Ranked, I play a lot of event games and always complete the BR and other programs, but the closest I’ve been this year is like ~891-893 or something. Like I said having a loss in a game like that really sets me back a few games as now I need to go 2-0 in the next two
Matchups to basically be where I should be.If a MLB game is in the 7th inning and they have a rain delay which they don’t come out of, the team with the lead gets the W. This should be no different.
