Do you honestly believe the lag in this game is other people's wi-fi? It's the trash servers SDS uses. I played over 200 games in Madden last year with no lag and maybe 3 or 4 disconnect losses all year, played GT7 online races over 50 times with zero issue or disconnect. This game I've played maybe 30 games of RS and literally half have been with some type of lag and disconnected/ freeze offs at least 4 times... the servers in this game are just awful.

I feel like most of the people who are hopping to Madden are hardly playing right now anyway.

This game plays in a P2P setting, so yes, I believe bad internet and weak WiFi signals play a role in how the game runs.

No... it's definitely the servers for me. At least a dozen times this year the servers are lagging so bad it takes PS5 and perfect internet strength forever to load mini-season and conquest games. There's no way anybody can convince me that I can play literally any other game online except this one without slow load times and lag. I played over 200 games in Madden online with 3 or 4 disconnects and same 3 or 4 disconnects in this game with 30 games. For somebody that spends equal amount of time per year playing this and Madden... it's easy to see that this game is the issue. Madden is miles ahead of this in terms of servers and lag. I have literally never seen lag in the menus of Madden... this game during peak times multiple times this year lag just from navigating menus in DD. It's definitely not my connection and can't be others if I'm not even in a game when it lags. GT7 can handle streaming online races with 20 different players at a time in a race and no lag... this game can't even handle 1 on 1 half the time. If their was an issue with my internet it would not be exclusive to this game. How about last year for 3 weeks after launch during peak times when literally everybody was complaining they couldn't even log on.... was that people's wi-fi too? If you are seriously sitting here arguing that these servers are on par with all other online gaming... there is zero point in arguing with you because you are clueless.

Yes, no point in arguing. I agree on that specific thing. P2P is the keyword but you decided to ignore it. Unbelievable that you had to write all that just to say I’m clueless because I disagree with you. Lol

Exactly... keep believing people's mc-wifi is why you see lag. If you are really tired of the lag... play a different game and watch magically nobody with bad wifi play those games.

I remember the servers being so awful in 17 that they gave away free pack bundles to keep people playing

Yes... this game could be so much better if they invested a little into better servers.

Lmao, this is the only game we play on P2P connections, Madden, GTA, NBA 2K are all on dedicated servers.

Why do you think this is the only game you play online with high latency lag in H2H matches?

P2P gaming is when players connect to and rely upon one another to keep an online network going, negating the need for a dedicated server.

    Cons of P2P gaming:

    Major security issues.

The server or everyone on the connection needs to have a decent internet connection for the game to function properly.

The data the player sends to others can be manipulated, making cheating easier.

The “host” is basically in control of the session.
Can only handle a limited number of players at once.

Doesn't make it suck any less. I can get smooth games by backing out of any game that lags in the pre-game menus, but it's still ridiculous. They should really consider just upgrading to better servers so it works like other games. It would make this game a lot more enjoyable, especially when the whole game revolves around precise timing. Playing H2H baseball with lag is terrible.

An expert in technology and programming told me this about connectivity and game freezes:

“I guarantee you that after a match is found, there’s an endless loop that’s constantly checking for connection status with the host. My guess is that due to the unstable nature of any connection, when that sample point occurs there isn’t a “sufficient” connection which kills the game. We might have 100mbps down and 10 up, but that’s averaged over the course of like 30 seconds. You can see it for yourself if you run a speed test. It’ll start really low and then over the duration of the test, the mean increases. My guess is that the sample point is hitting below threshold and there’s no logic to account for an average over time”

IMO, P2P sucks because a person with [censored] internet will make the experience for the other miserable, especially if they are the host (I believe in this game the home team acts as a host). They will not move from it because they don’t group 10 players in a single match, is 1v1, from a business standpoint P2P it’s the most logical route.

That would explain why if I play home hunting I can get a smooth game. It still means that SDS is lagging behind other gaming companies with their online play. I'm not even trying to be negative... I really like this game and wish Madden would copy some of the DD mode to make themselves better. My sole issue with this game is that online play sucks because of [censored] servers or p2p or whatever it is... either way it's not sufficient for 2022 gaming.
