Does anyone regret getting sucked into DD?

Yea DD mainly, occasional destiny 2.. about it really

I went into the end of 21' saying that no more Show. I told myself I would not care or watch any new release stuff for 22'. Well, that last a few weeks of the release info coming out. And I started playing 21' to get my skills back on track, 22' came out, and I was all in. But it gets better. About a month or so, around the middle of the April Monthly Awards, was out. I was grinding away, started to [censored] me off how long it took, and just for a stupid Rizzo card that wouldn't start for me. So I stopped playing, not just because of the stupid grind but many other things that we all know. Well, I put the PS4 in the closet, yep, and was done. That is what I thought. I was bored one day a few weeks ago, and guess what? Well, now I am hooked again and so want to finish all the in-game tasks I have to do, but at the same time, I want to sell my PS4, so I never play this game again. But, what are the chances of me doing that? It is now a Love/Hate relationship. If you don't spend HOURS in the game, there is no way to what? That is what it has come to. And like many others that commented, I only play offline. A few years ago I did the online thing and it blew gaskets in me. Never again.

Definitely don’t regret it since nothing compares to playing head to head 9 innings with legend players
Although you could have just as much fun playing offline if you make 30 team franchise with all-time players from each club for example and have control over every team
-
So I’ve owned every show. I just played franchise and RTTS until last year. With covid I worked from home. Now I’m more upset I didn’t start it 4-5 years ago. I played 21 until the day 22 started and haven’t touched anything else. I’m a huge Zelda and Diablo fan and with new games in the series coming out….I’m not even interested lol so much I bought copies for my PS5 in my family room, Xbox series x in my office, and the switch for when I travel lol

I just don’t like grinding against the cpu to get players. I would gladly pay actual money for cards if they were all available. I feel like I waste so much time playing modes I care nothing about to get players. Next year I may just do a money spent team and just do without the MA lightning guys. Ranked Season and some events are the only modes I enjoy. I think I could cut my DD time in half by refusing to grind moments and conquest
-
I agree with the grind being too much but that 97 Yordan Alvarez and 95 Rafael Devers are as worth it as it gets 92 Anthony Rizzo not so much
-
Don't regret DD specifically. Just the amount of gaming I now do overall.
Like many of you it seems my gaming obsession began in Spring 2020 when the pandemic started.
The smart move I dont regret is switching over from 2K MyTeam. I literally wasted 1-2 THOUSANDS of dollars on 2K packs.
With DD I spend ZEROS of dollars on packs. But I play way too much.

Right. I do love Alvarez. Just hated the boring stuff I had to do to get him

Recently uninstalled, in part because of this!
I can't justify the grind on a yearly basis ONLY TO START FROM SCRATCH NEXT YEAR. Jesus. No.
On top of that, gameplay has been trash...they've abandoned franchise mode...their communication is [censored].
Ultimately, though, you can look at the very specific term that ex-EA CEO used in his now-infamous interview. He refers to the "compulsion loop." This is what ALL sports games now are centered around. It's sad. That's why I'm out. I will not reinstall the game and won't buy it next year.
-
No, it does take most of my time, but if I enjoy it, why should I care? I know how it is designed, what the intentions behind the design are and I don't care. As long as I'm not sitting there calling out of work or other negative things that come with the territory, I'm content playing.

This is why it's good to be bad at the game hahaha. Playing CPU is still fun for me, even on rookie because I finally get to smash the opponent. But seriously, the grind to get cards is the best part. Playing online is akin to a root canal with no novacaine. Not because it's toxic or there are freeze offs. But if wanted to strike out 27 times a game I'd go put a helmet on and go face Verlander. So online is the way for me.
But I absolutely understand if you've played this game a long time and are pretty good, playing CPU would get old quick.

I was on the fence about buying 22, watched the pre release stream and pulled the trigger
Regretting that decision lately
Won’t buy 23 unless I read of positive changes here in the forum come next May

This post isn’t a bash on gameplay, servers, ect…I’ve played DD for a few years. Before then I just played online rated with regular teams casually. In a given day I’d play a game of The Show then some Halo, Battlefront, COD and then after a couple hours I’d be done playing for the day. Then came DD…It has become a giant timesuck that’s addictive & time requirement nature makes you play less of other games and focus mainly on DD and nothing else. I’ve realized instead of playing a couple hours a night, I’m playing massive amounts to try to get everything done. Blowing off other things I could be doing in real life so that I can dedicate more of my time to DD…I thought that once I made WS it would get better & more chill - And it did for awhile & then when 22 dropped I became obsessed again. This isn’t healthy, At least not for me, I think after this year I’m going to go back to playing online rated - For my own mental health’s sake…How do the rest of you feel? No judgement here, Just looking for honest opinions. Do you regret getting into DD?
I have realized that DD is just a false sense of accomplishment that is completely meaningless IRL. My only regret is buying the pre order version for 100 dollars. Luckily for me I do not buy stubs.

Totally a false sense of accomplishment. People paying so much money in game, only to start all over again in a year. Truly insanity. I only buy/play because my son wants to play.
If it wasn't for him, I would buy it every other year. Would be more enjoyable and get your money/time's worth at least.

Not to mention all the youtube/twitch content creators with their hyperbole video titles further pushing the hype. It's great for them that they are actually able to make money and for some even a living for themselves...but they are making a living by reinforcing and encouraging this annual meaningless unhealthy addiction to support themselves to continue what is also their own addiction. It's like getting paid for taking crack.

I was a madden MUT guy until The Show came out on Xbox. Figured I’d give it a try as MUT was getting very stale.
Last year was extremely fun and I had a great time learning DD. I put together all- time oriole and braves teams as well as my “god squad”. Seemed like every time I played, I got another player who immediately went in my lineup. Offline only. Rookie and vet only. I had so much fun, I even broke down and bought stubs
This year, offline rookie and vet only, seems much more of a grind. No money spent this year. From what I’m reading on these forums, we got spoiled last year. Ha ha
If I’m honest, I hope 23 spoils us again. 21 was so much fun.

21 DD was fantastic. All the programs were great. This year the All Star program 3 months later is the first good one. Hope 23 goes more in like with 22. They should bring TA back.

TA is the same thing as this years except it’s time limited.. if I remember correctly it was FoTF, Future Stars and Legends that one year with the 4 stages
This year it’s basically the same FoTF, Future Stars, All Stars & more than likely Legends of the Franchise will be coming soon
