Mini season disconnect
-
Full disclosure, I just lost a mini-season final to disconnects (two of theirs, one of mine), so there's some rant here.
But, there really should be some way to manage this without a heroic programming effort.
First, we know that the code knows the source of the disconnect because it penalizes the person who disconnects in on-line events. So, if you don't initiate the disconnect vs CPU (i.e. SDS servers go down), the program should simply treat the game a no-contest instead of a loss.
However, we also know that the game maintains win probability states. My internet dropped with a 5-1 lead, no one on, and 1 out in the bottom of the third. I probably had a 95% chance to win and would not have disconnected on purpose. So, if the disconnect comes from my end, but my win probability is greater than 80% or so, treat the game as no-contest. I know you can't award the win because that opens the system to all sorts of abuse, but it should at least not count as a loss.
This is a huge source of frustration, but it shouldn't have to be.

A thoughtful and well written post that will get absolutely zero attention from SDS. But they will patch a bunch of stuff you really don't care about.

I felt all along that a Mini-Seasons disconnect is an auto-loss, because SDS will think people are trying to cheese the system. The fact that people will exit out to avoid a loss in a Mini's that has a lot of rewards. I found out early in my first season as I dashboarded to avoid an extra inning loss. I also lost a game to a disconnect, but understood why it's an auto-loss.
I think that's why your issue won't be addressed by SDS. -

I think that's why your issue won't be addressed by SDS.But your win probability in that extra inning game was probably close to 50%. That's why I'm saying they should establish a threshold (let's say 80%) and if your win probability when the disconnect happens is less than 80%, you get a loss, just like now. But if it's greater, then it's no-contest. It wouldn't solve all of the problems, but it would address a lot of them and lead to less frustration.
