Designing A Bench For Diamond Dynasty
-
I am wondering how other players on The Show Nation go about designing their bench on MLB The Show. I didn't start playing '19 until approximately November, so National League rules in Diamond Dynasty are taking some time to get used to. I'm currently playing '20. I keep one speed option infielder and one speed option outfielder, in case i need to pinch run for a slower footed IF or OF who gets on base late in a close game, who I can leave in on defense. I also keep one power/hitting option infielder on the bench, and one power/hitting option outfielder on the bench, and a backup catcher.
IF speed option: Whit Merrifield (he also plays 1B as a secondary position, and that helps when subbing for a slow footed first baseman.)
OF speed option: Mallex Smith (he's probably the best baserunner I have.)
IF power/hitting option: Amed Rosario (my Diamond Dynasty squad is only rated 79 OVR, so I imagine Rosario will change as I get more cards with time.)
OF power/hitting option: Jason Heyward (he will likely change with more cards acquired as well.)

Power Lefty, Power Righty, Balanced switch hitter, Pinch runner for catcher (Realmuto fills this role to not waste a spot), and a utility player with good fielding

I don't really carry anyone just for running. I like having Josh Bell and Granadal on the bench, both switch hitters with pop. I have Goldy for pinch hitting against lefties, I do however like having Eduardo Escobar on the bench due to the fact he's a switch hitter with about 6 positions he can play.

Eduardo Escobar may as well have been my MVP versus the CPU during my games on '19. I usually started him in LF.
