I'm a relative newbie - I came into the game when 19 was free last year, loved it, so got 20 on the pre-purchase release date. I struggled last year understanding all aspects of The Show, but mostly just did RTTS and MTO, with a bit of Conquest and the occasional online game. I've since gotten a much better handle on it, but still a lot of it confuses me. For example, I don't really understand what is needed to get Mantle (other than knowing it is a long hard road).
There are obviously heaps of YouTube videos, however I find they all assume a lot of pre-knowledge about how the game works.
Can anyone recommend a The Show 101 video? I guess focusing on DD.

I can't recommend a specific video, but typically "no money spent" videos on YouTube tend to be catered towards the less experienced diamond dynasty players. Also, Mantle is acquired by collecting every live series (current player) in The MLB.

I remember having that overwhelmed feeling with 17 after taking a few years off from The Show after 13. So many details and programs and collections are buried in the menus. You really need to just spend a few hours exploring the layers of menus and getting familiar with the terminology. I would suggest just focusing on one team affinity. For example do the White Sox affinity for Yoan Moncada. Build out a DD squad with nothing but White Sox players, some of the gold and silvers are actually very solid. Play some CPU games, some conquest, do the moment, maybe even MTO and eventually do the team collection. Just focusing on one team will give you a better understanding of the many other aspects of DD.

Hope that helps. Or maybe you already have a grasp on that stuff? If so just play the modes you enjoy the most.
