TV question for smart people
-
So I was looking at buying a new monitor, the mu32 or whatever that people keep mentioning on here.
But while I was shopping around I found some 65" Qled and Oled tvs that had me wondering. The tvs say that they support VRR, hdmi 2.1, 120hz on 4k all the stuff people on here have mentioned. My question is I noticed the tvs have ~10-15 ms response where as the monitors have sub 5ms response.
Is the difference in 10ms response tv and 1 ms response monitor, if they both have the same specs otherwise a huge deal?

This is were people get confused. "Response Times" is a marketing gimmick companies use to sell. Tons of Monitors say 1ms response time and only do 5-10ms at best. OLED, right now are some of the only panels that do a true 1ms response time and they are mainly found on TV's. My LG C1 for example. So always look up a TV or Monitors specs on Rtings.com.
Response times will eliminate ghosting the lower they get.But you will probably be more interested in input lag than response anyways. So always look that up as well.

For example here is a comparison between the LG C1 TV and the Gigabyte M32U Monitor on RTINGS.com

As you can see if scrolling down the M32U has a 7.1ms Response time and probably advertises 1ms. But it doesnt matter. Its a great Monitor.
Both those panels are around 5ms Input lag at 120hz

Are you able to hit the 102 fastballs on the LG C1? When I played on a TV before they were just a blur.

Lol, yes. LG C1 was voted top gaming panel of the year for 2021 I believe. Its great. Just got to decide if you want 48in Infront of you or an ergonomic desk Monitor. The LG C2 has been released and within a few weeks I believe they will have their 42in C2 out. So a little smaller directly meant for gaming.
Plus all 4 HDMI ports are 2.1, and it supports all HDR formats and Dolby Vision was is like advanced HDR.

The only thing I would have to say about that Samsung, and it goes to what I was saying earlier about Response Times being a gimmick, is it has bad response time. Looks like it hangs around 20ms + Even though of course it advertises 1ms. So you might notice some blur or smearing at times.

What's up with the permanent burn in they keep mentioning? I play this game alot sometimes 8 hrs at a time. I would hate for the scoreboard to be permamtly burned into the bottom right of the screen.

Meh you would be fine. Older OLEDs had a burn in issue for people watching certain news channels or using it as a monitor with the same bright background on all the time, but they have software built in to help those things now and there are a lot of testimonies out there from people running them for years with no issues. Yeah I had to really research that stuff before I bought mine. ;p; That M32U is a great Monitor though if you want to avoid that. Or dont need a TV.

Get the LG. Much better deal than an $800 monitor. As Chuck stated earlier, response time is a gimmick.
