Equipment should increase your overall rating
-
There's literally no reason for it not to. If perks, something that can be changed in and out, add to your totals and increase your overall rating, the same should be true of equipment.
This is even more so the case since you decided the archetypes needed to be nerfed, making it very challenging to hit 99 overall at certain positions--and in fact, it's impossible to create a 99 overall center fielder this year, with any archetype.
-
It does change your attributes though. Who cares what you overall is

Some people enjoy seeing the number. There's a massive disconnect between being a 90 overall and going into a game to see every stat above 100.

Id rather be 90 overall with 110 power than 99 overall with 50.

You seem to be missing the point. There's no reason for it not to be both. It's a simple change that makes the mode much more satisfying.

Just a guess here but in the past, overall had a correlation to which you were called up and given special perks. Could be that the reason equipment doesn’t apply is so that you’re not in the majors with what’s really a 70 OVR player swinging with what would be a 90 OVR players equipment. It wouldn’t make sense a 70 OVR player is beating a 85 OVR player in his position on the majors club -
