Mini seasons is ridiculously hard. I don’t think it’s fair that these maxed out teams get thrown at you—Why should I suffer for not shelling out the money to complete the live series collection and get to the OP cards before everyone else?
Every fielder I face has godlike throwing ability and they successfully dive catch everything. What doesn’t go into the outfield is a lineout straight to one of the infielders. And strikeouts plague me—not because I suck at hitting (I’m playing on Rookie so it’s not the difficulty setting), but because a lot of the pitchers I have to deal with either have crazy pitch movement, the outlier quirk, or both.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the plate, every batter in the lineup is a legendary slugger of some kind. They jack out almost everything, and it’s a wonder that win games. Usually it’s by small margin. Increasingly, it’s by one run. You can imagine how stressful that is, it’s almost showdown stressful.
This mode is really ticking me off. Rookie in this mode is like hall of fame. It’s unbalanced to favor the CPU because of the maxed out teams.
Oh! And the crashes. I just crashed again and got slapped with another loss. In a playoff game no less. Really nice SDS.
Is anyone else struggling here?
Play on rookie it’s easy
I said I was playing on rookie.

Wait, you're striking out on Rookie? But you don't suck at hitting? Gotcha.
You missed the point of what I was saying. I'm striking out because these are endgame pitchers I'm having to hit against with early game cards. It's not easy, and I'm still getting used to the changes they made to hitting this year. Good grief, man.
........ it's still Rookie. Sorry, don't want to be mean but it does sound like hitting is not your strong suit if you strike out on Rookie. Regardless of who's pitching.
It's okay. I've been frustrated lately. I've developed carpal tunnel symptoms in my left hand and my controller is getting stick drift after a year of use (I blame the fact it's a launch controller), so there are external factors too. The pain sucks, the numb spells suck, but I can't do much about it now. I'm a student and I have to type a lot.
That sucks, maybe take a break from this stuff for a while if it's physically impacting you?
It's hard to. I'm in my senior year about to graduate and video games have always been an effective stress reliever for me. Maybe I could try games that are less demanding on my fingers and thus put less stress on my median nerve. The CTS is a big worry for me, I hope it will go away and I don't have to get surgery or anything. I'm too young for CTS.
I’ve had similar issues and when mine acts up, I play a different game that relies less on precision. For example, I had a blood draw this morning that did not go well and I’m dealing with pins and needles feelings in my hands and I know playing the Show would be frustrating so I’m playing Red Dead 2 finding collectibles and hunting.
I might try loading up games like that. Maybe I'll play through Skyrim for the 9000th time, or revisit Dishonored, or Fallout 3 again.
I would love it if this game had V.A.T.S. to hit baseballs lol

Maybe it's just me, but what happened to enjoying a little challenge? Not denigrating the OP, because I understand that a lot of people just like to grind through things to get the rewards, but for those who enjoy playing something akin to a simulated game of baseball, it's great that you can't just run through it and smash everyone, every game. I ran through and won the championship my first time through on AS, losing only a handful along the way, and now I'm playing all games on HOF this time just so it is harder, and specifically so I will lose more.
This sport's takeaway, as far as life lessons go, is dealing with failure. The game should mimic that, and on the higher difficulty levels, it sure does for me.
Take your lumps, enjoy the sour with the sweet, and enjoy playing the game (it isn't all about rewards and accomplishments).

Playing on rookie has been harder this year from my experience. I’m on my third run of mini seasons and I’ve caught myself going on auto pilot when playing and it bit me a few times and lost a few games. Worst case scenario, put a few speedy bunt cheesers at the top of your lineup to get a few men on base. It might help get you moving.
The thing is if I do get speedy runners on base, when I try to steal second, I am OUT almost every time. It's unbelievable.
I don't steal until they've thrown 2 balls and I always watch the jump. Bad jump = try to hit/foul off

That’s exactly what I do.

I disagree. I just beat the whole thing on Hall of fame to get all the rewards in one shot. It's doable. You have to be patient at the plate and make good pitches.
-
It’s actually impressive you can strikeout on Rookie lol. I’m not trying to be mean but [censored]… it’s hard enough striking someone out on All-Star.

Hadn’t thought of that, how many DPs do you get into, as a trade off?

I do have to ask; are you playing on a TV or monitor? If you're playing on a TV is gamemode on? If it isn't, hitting on any difficulty will be [censored] near impossible due to screen latency.

I am not too deep in and but I am on Veteran and am either 5-1 or 6-1 including taking several games from The Whales.
Conquest is a pushover playing live series teams. I am glad there is a tougher mode to play where I will always want to bring my best players. One where pitcher stamina is an issue and I can't start the same starting pitcher every game. One that requires me to have more than one good reliever because I can't run him out there every single game. .

If I’m doing a mini seasons grind I just throw it on rookie and rake for 15 games quit out of the remaining games and play the playoffs. The goal is packs and that’s the fastest way to them.
Edit: just noticed you said you play on Rookie too. Do some legend batting practice for a bit and rookie will seem like a beach ball is being thrown at you.
Seems very simple, never thought of it. So 15 wins is the magic number?

If you are struggling against the cpu on rookie, the problem is you. While the cpu is better than last year, you still shouldn’t be giving up more than a run or two a game (if that).
Did you read the rest of the post? I went on to say that the players on the teams I face are endgame players. Ones like DeGrom, Trout, AW Thomas, Clemente, etc. etc. The ones who have insane stats and can throw three digit pitches.
And my profile might be deceiving—I am not new to the game. I came over from playstation to xbox last year. I have been playing since MLBTS 16, so it's not like I don't know how to play the game.
There are two teams in my Mini Season that are just absolutely stacked. Every single best player in the game. And I'm not exaggerating.
It's like this for everyone to keep balance. Just 2 teams with all the connections players.
It's NOT balanced if the other team is stacked and mine isn't. DUH.
It's just 2 teams out of all the other teams. That is pretty balanced if you ask me.
What does that even mean? I'm saying it's unbalanced because I don't have the players that the AI teams have. I don't have LS Trout or Degrom, or the collection rewards like Thomas or Clemente.
It would BE balanced if the teams you faced corresponded to your team's overall rating.
Then is every other single player mode to unbalanced the other way? Like conquest?

I’m not great by any means but I did mini season on all star level had for losses and 1 loss in the playoffs.
I’m going to guess you may have not done all the conquest maps or finished the xp for the month. After doing conquest and all that most all my positions were ranked 90. Still I agree some of those teams are stacked. 99 players and all. I saved mini season for last so I had most of the best players I could get. -
