Just finished a game where, in the first 4 innings, I had two perfect/perfect fly balls that were both caught multiple steps in front of the warning track. My opponent then proceeded to have:
- early swing HR to tie the game early on
- early swing HR to go ahead in the 8th
- ok contact HR to go back ahead in the 9th
So perfect swings are average flyballs for outs but being out in front of pitches or only making "ok" contact is rewarded with the best possible outcome? Why don't we just roll a dice before every pitch and let that determine the outcome?
