Let’s not forget the origin of these Affinity type programs. Until the introduction of events in ‘17 or ‘18 FB and legend cards were locked behind the ‘ticket booth,’ collections, and conquest.

In ‘19 events were added along with individual small player programs. Towards the end of the season there was a ‘turn back the clock’ event which didn’t allow LS cards. The forum threw a hissyfit b/c not everyone had enough cards to fill a team for the event.

Starting the following year (‘19) we were given an easier path to get fb and legend cards. This was around the time SDS inked a deal with Topps that allowed for an explosion of fb and legend cards.

‘20 started with a first stage of prospect cards and the player base revolted because we had unknown players with imaginary stats.

It will be ok. I’m sure that whatever they are doing here has been thought through so as not to repeat the ‘turn back the clock’ event Diasaster…just please no more hat collecting

Mini seasons are probably just a rebrand of inning programs. It makes sense if you think about it….mini seasons, so like a month long…just like the inning programs.

I am pretty sure mini-seasons is an actual new mode, not a reward path.

I think mini seasons is like a ranked seasons that resets your record each “season” or “inning” or whatever. Maybe it’s like a recreational version of ranked seasons that’s less cut throat. Maybe they’re 6 inning games !?

I know for a fact it makes a lot of sense when I don’t think about it at all.

I’m open for what ever they decide to do.

Agreed. I’m down for something different. As long as the best cards are attainable by grinding then I’m fine with how we they want to change the look of the grind. “Innings” “feature programs” doesnt matter what It’s called.

I've watched this video again a few times because I'm a nerd like that and I do think we are getting Team Affinity, just that the first one is tied into whatever inning program you get xp for. They said something about "their's a twist" and mentioned year round rewards but also the time limit thing. I'm really curious what this is all about. Team Affinity in my humble opinion is the best DD offline program so I hope they don't tweak it too much.

Events were added in 17, but there wasn't really a shortage of legends and FBs in 16 or 17 either. Disregard 18 from existence and you will have a much easier time piecing the puzzle together

Also its like the same 10 people complaining about all those things. We will definitely be fine, I agree

I honestly thought the mini season thing would be like EAs squad battles

Aren't Extra Innings like EA Squads?

No they are just games vs other people's teams. Squad battles are an offline mode where you get rewards depending on how you do

Aren't squad battles against other people's teams too? And in Extra Innings you do get rewards as well depending how well you do. And you also collect rewards in Extra Innings in each program.

Yeah that is new this year, the rewards I mean but they are xp towards the inning programs. Squad battles was you play a bunch of games vs the ai and there is a leaderboard. You get so many points depending the difficulty, the team and how you do in the win or loss and at the end of a week, there is a reward path that gives you packs, coins or whatever.

Yeah but you really aren’t totally getting it, it isn’t just a mode you complete missions in. It’s a “challenge of the week” type of thing. You have a set limit of games and aim to beat the teams by as much as possible and on as hard a a difficulty as possible. That earns you points/XP, which lands you in a ranking section like RS, which leaves you with rewards.

    SBs rankings are like
    Top 100 (1-5 6-25 26-100 all different)
    Top 10%
    Top 30%
    Top 50% and so on.

The rewards aren’t insane because there extremely frequent. But to correlate Top 30% would get like 15,000k and 5 packs. Top 10% would be like 25,000 and a BIAH or Headliners
Top 100 would most likely get a low Diamond. The Top 5 would get a low Diamond plus 80-100k.

If they don’t add this I wish they would take COTY and Showdown and combine them for a Showdown of the week inside DD, instead of having a set limit of runs to get and when you get it it’s done, you play it all the way through and see how many runs you can put up in its entirety. Then again you fall into rankings, Top 100, Top 10% Top 30% and get small rewards from it. I already know we could see some +100 runs
