Playoff Eligible Players - unable to DFA, Release, etc.

Is this a bug in the game? I can find nowhere in the actual MLB rules where a playoff eligible player (on 40 man on or b4 Sept 1) cannot be DFA’s or released. In fact, it happens all the time in the real MLB. (See MLB transactions @ MLB.Com) This prohibits us from keeping up with real changes in the roster. Anyone know if there’s a work around?

I am struggling with this issue as well now that I have entered September in my franchise. I have found a workaround, although it is an inconvenient, time consuming, multistep process. Put the player you want to DFA on the 60-day injury list, reduce the players overall rating so that it is the lowest the the teams 40 man roster, make sure you replace the player on the 40 man roster and that it is full, reactive the player you injured and sim to the next day. The AI will automatically DFA the player with the lowest OVR. It would be nice if SDS would fix this, I imagine it’s left over from when the roster expansions allowed for a ridiculous amount of players, another incomplete “fix”. SDS, do you have any input on fixing this issue?
