Should I Turn Off the Shift?
-
I'd like to state first off that this has nothing to do with the new ban on shifts by MLB.
The reason I'm posting is that I've seen the CPU get a lot of hits on me recently because of my infield's shift. They beat my shifts more often than not, and on some plays it's like the shift wasn't needed at all (i.e., grounder is hit to 3B in an extreme right shift, and he's where the SS usually is). Even when the ball isn't a searing drive or grounder into the shallow outfield, some plays could've ended with an out, but didn't because the infielders had to run so far to get the ball to wherever.

Unless you know how to pitch with the shift on; I would turn it off.
Actually, I think most players play with it off and set it themselves if they want it on.

Why do you DD guys even care about the shift?...you guys are just playing cheese arcade baseball not simulated baseball...the shift should be meaningless for the majority of you. This is a discussion for the Franchise forum.

Because a lot of players like to bunt against the shift with players that should never bunt.

It cracks me up that there is genuine animosity for people who play a certain game mode. That would be like me making fun of all people who drive Hyundais or enjoy beer pong over flip cup. Broooooo, go hit your daily maxed out velo bombs with sliders turned to 11 and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing.
@StyxXx80_XBL , I meant to respond to the comment before yours from our friendly Jay fanatic. Sorry, it landed on yours.

It would be an interesting experiment against the CPU, to see if the shift makes any difference to outcomes.
Would need a sample size of at least a few hundred ABs though.

I'm actually curious how to adjust the shift during the game. I've seen my opponents do it when they thought I was gonna bunt but I have no clue how to adjust it mid game or mid AB.
I like you're idea to experiment with it. Maybe take a run through RIB a few times and see if it makes a difference.

Hit down on the d-pad before pitching to bring up fielder positioning. Can also go to manager menu in pause menu to position individual players and choose for how long.
It seems a bit buggy, at least for the 1st baseman.

Ahhhh, gotcha. Thanks man. I don't tend to want to mess with my defense often but this helps for sure. I had s player bunting with every lefty and I couldn't figure out how to change my defense and play on the left side or in.

First thing: Turn Shift from Auto to Manual.

Did you not read my original post? I said that against the CPU, I've had many instances where hits were allowed because of the automatic shift when they wouldn't have if the shift in the infield was straight up. It's not meaningless if the shift is causing issues in allowing base hits.
Also, since you are not a moderator, you have no authority to say which part of the forum my post should belong in. Especially because I wasn't talking about franchise mode, I was talking about play vs. CPU.

I’ve been hard on you in past posts due to your politics and the alternate reality you live in. I’m trying to be less judgmental and more sympathetic toward misinformation’s victims.
Anyway. Turn off the shift. Good pitching will result in people being late on your fastballs/sinkers. Why reward them for being fooled?
