2022 wishlist...
-
I thought I would put together a list of things I would personally like to see for 2022.
-
Make the best cards in the game (namely pitchers) a bit of a struggle to obtain so that we're not dealing with Cabrera or Degrom for 80% of games.
-
Fix pinpoint such that it ACTUALLY requires a skill gap to be really good at and dot corners with precision. Anything less than 100%/100%/100% should result in the mathematically equivalent error of the pitch.
-
Reduce in-game pitcher energy, especially for outlier pitchers throwing 50%+ pitches at outlier speeds. Few and far between will we see pitchers throwing 102 into the 8th inning or a reliever hitting 102 on 40+ pitches while dotting the corners.
-
Reduce foul balls on AS and below (namely AS). I am primarily an AS player that usually tops out 750-800 range but majority of my games are AS. This difficulty would be a fun difficulty to play on if foul balls were reduced.
-
Praying that contact swing for power is not a thing this year. Sure, you see HRs when players are choked up but it's rare.
-
Either ditch the hitting feedback system or make it actually work. It would create fewer complaint issues to see feedback which didn't reflect results.
-
Fix baserunning. Way too many weird baserunning things happen in a game that doesn't match the inputs.
-
Drop more GOOD big name cards earlier in the season - even if they are collection cards. I'm a massive Griffey Jr fan (as a die hard Bluejay fan) and I was massively disappointed we had to wait as long as we did to get a GOOD and USABLE card of his. By the time it dropped I was bored of the game and onto something else.
-
Get rid of the CAP. I like them in theory but there are enough content options in the game that we don't need a cap.
-
Make bunting a skill gap. Too many ppl can rely on bunting as a viable hitting strategy even when you have the in-field setup correctly - there's still a high % chance of it being successful due to slow fielder animations.
-
Find ways to reduce toxicity:
A) bunt dancing. It's rarely effective but it's annoying and toxic
B) R2'ing. Seemed to get fixed or have less of an impact but we all know it could be right back to where it was with a new game
C) Tighter policing of inappropriate logos and team names. This isn't snowflake syndrome. It's just common decency (does that still exist?).
- A seasons game mode that's 6 or 7 innings. Yes, I know this will upset die hards but not everyone has time for 50 min games. Personal experience: I get 60 to 90 mins (max 2 hours) of playing time in a day. Many many times I play a game... person (or disconnect) happens in the 3rd or 4th inning and now I don't have time to start another game. Sure, I could play offline modes to fill the time but I work the market hard early on so I don't have to bore myself with offline modes for cards I may not want. Many of my friends who play would also prefer RS games that trended shorter.
Rewards outside of WS pretty much suck anyways so there shouldn't be a practical reason why a shorter season isn't doable.
I have #1 list as such because I feel it was the primary reason to the game getting super stale and boring for me and the people I talk to about the game.
