I Froze in a CPU Game?? Controller not working?

So I'm playing conquest against the cpu. I turn off my controller briefly to go outside and play with my dogs, then came back about 15 minutes later and turned the controller back on.

However, the controller is not responding to any input. No buttons are doing anything. The Xbox logo is glowing to indicate that the controller is on, but it is not responding to any of the buttons I press.

I have removed and re-inserted the batteries, ensuring that they are inserted correctly. I have replaced the batteries with new ones. Nothing is working.

I know it's a problem with the controller, because to make sure the console wasn't frozen, I activated some bluetooth headphones and a notification popped up on the screen to indicate that it was connected. So why won't my controller function??

Power cycling the console ended up fixing it. I wonder if the controller is faulty?
