I brought mlb 21 for Xbox one. If I got a next gen Xbox, do I need to buy the game again?

Check the version you bought, some of them included both gens

The Jackie Robinson edition gives you access to both versions. If you bought the standard version, then you would be playing the Xbox One version on the Series X via backwards compatability, which means no stadium creator.

Do you have Game Pass? If so, when you download the game it will use Smart Delivery to give you the best version for the console you are on. I have the next gen version on my Series S with Game Pass.
