I mean Mattingly was a good hitter. If I’m not mistaken he was the hitting coach for the Yankees for a while.

Mattingly was an absolute beast. If he didn’t have injuries near the end and could have had a few more decent years he could be in the HOF. They always do him dirty on his power. He should have 100+. Why would John Olerud have more pop?

Mattingly is an excellent hitter. He spent hours after the game in the cage. Wrote a book on hitting and owned a bat company too. He never believed in launch angles to hit homers. He just smacked it as hard as he could. Rickey Henderson said that when he was at third, Mattingly never struck out.
