An Alternative Idea for Extreme
-
I thought last year's extreme as a whole was a bit much to ask of even "good" players and would bet that the percentage of people completing it was absurdly low (and likely many never even attempted it as a whole), which is a waste of content.
So, as an alternative for this year I thought SDS could offer a "fast track" and "slow track" for extreme. The fast track would effectively be the same as last year (ie conquest, moments, and showdown), which was something the elite players finished in a day last year and the really good players in a weekend. The slow track would be for everyone else and would still include conquest (or any one of the 3 fast track modes) and then extreme stat grinds (any DD mode) to get the rest of the points using all time single season records as the basis. As an example (I am not attached to the assigned series, just threw some out there):
262 hits with prime players
73 home runs with awards series
119 xbh with signature series
130 stolen bases with milestones
383 strikeouts with awards
62 saves with milestone
390 innings pitched with signature (I used this number from 1908 Christy since his card is in the game instead of the modern era number)
36 wins by prime cards (again I used Walter Johnson's since he is in the game). -

Even for someone like me that finishes most the offline content this seemed a bit much. I’m more excited this year to give it a crack. I like the idea of giving people multiple ways to attack it. We all know the speed guys will get this done quickly regardless of requirements. Average Joe such as myself might be hard pressed to even maintain interest

Right, but that is why this is an alternative not a replacement. If you want to do it faster you would just do the moments/showdown like last year.

I’m starting to have flashbacks from 18.

I would be against this. The whole point of extreme is to have exclusive cards for good players. Although it would take a while this just sounds like a cop out to avoid showdown

I’m a below average player and I’ve never had a problem with the extreme program the way it’s been done. I’ll tough my way through the map for the packs but that’s about it.

I'd love to know how many Gehrig's were earned last year. There is a point at which exclusivity is just a waste of cards that could diversify lineups when it is too low.

I saw quite a few playing ranked and especially in the postseason event. Obviously wasn't a huge % but more than I was expecting. Of course that could have just been coincidental matchmaking

I mean now with Xbox also being a part of it too this year its hard to say how many will want it to be the same. Since a lot of new players this year my guess is that likely we get a good challenge regardless from it.

Agreed. They've spent the entire year giving everyone with thumbs the same rewards. I want to be tested and rewarded if I succeed. So far this year every card has been obtainable if you just play enough.
