Catcher Defensive Stats

How important is this and have you noticed anything?

They said they put an emphasis on it this year to show a difference between and elite catcher and average catcher. Elite catchers definitely don’t miss balls in the dirt as much but I do think they don’t punish catchers like Sanchez who is an absolute liability behind the plate in real life. It’s not a big enough difference to worry about cause the average catchers still do a good job overall imo

For a while I was switching between Gary Sanchez gold and Pudge diamond and couldnt tell the difference in their fielding. Pudge hitting is atrocious though. I switched to Grandal gold and he is way better than both. For me, at least

I had POTM Sanchez catching for me but would have a decent amount of passed balls. For that reason, I took Posey at silver level 1. I haven’t noticed much of an upgrade defensively to be hones, I think they may have overstated how important catcher defense is yet again.
