I dont know how many are in the same boat as me, but I started to try and fill out a lineup for the event and got bored and tired. The rewards are obviously useless mostly, but when I been doing long grinds against CPU I like to hop into the event games to warm up a bit before RS. But the way the cap on attributes is laid out for this event I just gave up lol. I backed out and gave up on building a team that would qualify. I feel like in either 18 or 17 we had a prebuilt team that qualified and then we could edit it as we wanted to stay within the terms. But since then they auto give us a maxed out team that can be way overqualified and we have to spend a lot of time figuring what might work. No thanks.
PS. just noticed it was 6 inn too. lol [censored]. Super no thanks, even with Quick counts.

I only played a few games to get the Ks with White Sox players so I can finish the FOD Program without playing Showdown.
In the process I ended up getting a W with a Phillies pitcher that unlocked Roberts and am going to try a few games to see if I can unlock Turner, Zimmerman, and Nathan.

Worst Event ever. Played a 3-2 game yesterday that lasted 45 minutes.
-
I got 40ish wins in the FOD event and actually enjoyed it. Tried to adjust the lineup for this event and then backed out after 5 minutes of tinkering (inserting commons!) with no drop in team OVR. If I were to be bad/unlucky enough to hit two straight losses, it would be straight back to adjusting that lineup. I just don't feel compelled enough to play to deal with the OVR problem. I honestly can't believe it doesn't auto-generate a 90-compliant lineup to edit.

Not saying it applies in that person's example, but that behaviour has been observed (substitute 'pitch' for 'inning' for extra cheese).

I’m trying to figure out how so many teams have all 99 players across the board in a 90 ovr team event
-
The way I got my team to 90 OVR w all high diamonds in the lineup is to have two Diamond SPs (Fergie Jenkins/Nolan Ryan) and the rest commons. All common bench except for 2 bronze hitters one to hit a lefty and a righty. And then 2 bronze relievers the rest Diamond. First two games start my two Diamond SP, bullpen game for the 3rd.
-
I did mostly high diamond starters, exception being 89 Olsen. Starting pitchers 87-85 and LS Charlie Morton. Silver Bench, LS Polanco, Mondesi, Eric Davis, Topps now Knapp and I forget other. Bullpen, Reyes, Fingers and a bunch of glitchy Golds/Silvers. Dibble, Wagner, Sale, Chapman, Greene, Martin….

This is why im not participating in the event, guaranteed some streamer put out a video on how to make a full 99 lineup for “quick and easy wins”. Is it against the rules? No, the team obviously qualifies but you already know if you have the lead over one of these people in the 4th inning the bunt dancing, pausing and R2ing will come out since they have no bullpen or bench. The best part is all of this is for cards only the people who bunt every AB want.

I have 60 OVR at my 4-5 pitcher spots. I have a 60 in the bullpen and have LS Jed Lowrie, Yoan Moncada, Robbie Grossman, Tim Locastro and Heim as backup catcher.
Just keep trying
