How to increase individual pitch attributes in game

I know for instance that if I get a swing and a miss with a slurve, my break for that pitch goes up, but how to I get the velo or control for that pitch to go up (my control was at base 30 prior to a bullpen thing). How do I get fastball break up? Or cutter?

In other words, what action in an actual game increases those attributes?
