34-20 not good? maybe for a video game but there are 20 mlb teams right now that would kill for that win%

No such thing as good clean competition online anymore. In any game. Sorry.

hahaha, it was great for me, but I see some of these other records online and i definitely don't stack up. I'm very much a realist. the most important part is my son and I are having fun. I wish we could be a little more competitive in online play, but its all good.

Battle royale is good for new players because each team is about the same overall. But you don’t see as much “good clean competition” there

Is there any where that you do? If so, I've not found it lol

Last year was my first time ever playing DD. I loved the collecting of cards and was so nervous about running them out. I started playing RS late in the game cycle. While enjoyable it definitely was sweaty. I think my overall record was about 34-20. Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but was still having fun. I'm having a much more difficult time this year (I think I'm 16-9) in RS. My inability to get better at hitting and the advent of pinpoint have made it harder for me to compete (I also usually play with my 11 year old, so we trade innings off an on, hard to get a flow, but I'd rather play with him than without). I started playing BR last week for the first time (we loved Bryce last year and wanted him again) and absolutely love it. The randomness of cards has been a pleasant surprise. I'm not facing deGrom or Cabrera every game and lineups stacked with the latest all-stars. I'm having more fun playing BR (even If ive yet to get more than 7 wins in any run) than I have playing anything else all year.

7 wins in a BR run is actually pretty darn good!

BR is nice in the sense that you know the teams will be somewhat even, but if you're not used to online gameplay you may lose quite a bit which means a lot of 1500 stub entry fees. You'll also only get good rewards if you can get to 12 wins or make solid progress in the BR program. If you're confident in your ability to win, Posada at 90 points and Jansen or Harper at 100 points are definitely great rewards.

My suggestion would be to start with events if you have some decent diamonds to compete with. It's a very low pressure environment and there is no penalty to losing outside of needing to reset your lineup. Wins are cumulative through each run, and while McGee and Kiner aren't the most exciting rewards, you're basically guaranteed to get them if you play enough games to get to the win totals and you could always sell them for someone else.

When I first started playing online back in 17 I started with events, and it was a good way to get experience before jumping into ranked and BR.

Thanks, I completely surprised myself with the 7. I only got 3 wins on my second run. Starting my third run today.

First year playing and at the start of the year I hated BR and loved ranked. As the year has gone on it is the opposite. My preference is #1 Events, #2 BR and #3 Ranked. To me ranked is about playing the "game" MLB The Show. I know that seems like a dumb comment, but people often complain about things about DD or ranked not being like real baseball...well to be successful in ranked you need the mentality of I am playing "MLB The Show" and doing anything and everything you can for the way the game is setup. That might mean throwing Degrom for 150 pitches or spamming Cabrera sinkers up and in all day long...or contact swinging like your life depended on it. It just seems to be a more intense/stressful environment for many.... but it does seem to be the right place if you want that true competitive atmosphere.

Events and BR seem to be a bit more of people who just want to enjoy quick games and grind out wins in the program. Sure, there are the people who play all the base running games and bunt the entire lineup, but even if I take a loss to them, it isn't a big deal. It was 10 minutes of my life and I just move on. I feel that Events and BR have helped me improve as a player also...probably because I am more relaxed than playing a nine inning ranked game.

Random comment about events too is that it seems to have smoother gameplay with less lag compared to BR and Ranked. I have nothing to prove that...just seems that way to me and it has made me wonder if it was on a different server or something that isn't being hit as hard.

Just a guess - but it may be because it's easier to get matched up in Events with another player who is geographically close. The times I've seen lag in RS, is when the "bar" goes pretty far to the right, indicating someone far away. I've definitely seen lag when I get matched up with someone with an obviously non-US based team.
