My Jersey Number

So my preferred number is 13. I wear it when I play for my softball league and I'd like to play with it in TS21. I have owned may iterations of this game and this is the first one where I can't get my number. in the first season of RTTS, I had to wear 14 for the entire season, then made the post season and miraculously, I was wearing 13 for the post season, I was very happy. the next season started and I was 24. very bummed. I changed the preferred number to 12 and I got 14 back.
I used to think that the number assignments had to do with the current rosters of the team I'm playing on, Mine is currently the Tampa Bay Rays. The current roster has Rich Hill as #14. This IS a game, and a game that I keep paying $60+ for when they come out. They could at least let me have my number....... -
Based on two things...1) If someone with higher ranking on the team already has the number and 2) The team's retired numbers.
