Over the years I've begun to notice that SDS doesn't seem to pay as much attention to replicating what we're seeing at the present time in real-life into their game and that's disappointing. It's something I have to overhaul whenever I start a new Franchise as it bothers me that they just don't give relievers the same treatment as starting pitchers and position players.

I understand the reason for this is likely that relievers are so volatile year-to-year -- heck, even month-to-month -- and that makes it difficult to rate them in accordance to their whole weighing the past three-years into their attributes and overall. Personally, I think SDS should make exception to that system and try to keep the ratings more in line with how each reliever is performing at that given time. I will admit that they have gotten a bit better at doing this in recent years but it's still not at a satisfactory place, in my opinion.

For example, we've all seen how dominant Alex Reyes has been this season in every category except the amount of batters he is walking -- which is well represented in his Live Series card with a BB/9 of 18. Where the problem lies for Reyes' Live Series reflection of how he's performing is his HR/9 which is at a 64 despite the fact that in 33 innings pitched this season, he has only allowed two home runs. Obviously, this is just one example -- but I could probably find dozens just at first glance if I wanted this post to be even longer, which I don't and more than likely, neither do you.

So what do you guys think of this? Do you agree with me that they should ditch their "three-year average scale" in determining a player's overall just for relievers for the sake of accurately representing how a reliever is performing in the current season or do you like that SDS really makes them earn their ratings over a much larger sample size, even if it sometimes flies in the face of realism?

Also they need to make it so LS relief pitchers aren’t ALWAYS playing down.

Usually for no reason other than, “limited data but doesn’t favor him” type stuff.

I feel like this topic needs to be bumped. They did do one thing I wanted -- which was updating the control, break and velocity for Live Series SPs -- and that's nice but they didn't do enough with relievers again.
