It really does seem the worst the player the more they defend stopping quick pitching. Trust me if they made people hold the ball for 30 seconds in between pitches it ain’t making you better.

And here's the daily 'judging people's skills' post.

Just because someone defends something doesn't mean they're bad at the game. It just means that they want a fair and enjoyable experience.

As I stated before, the ONLY way to make both the hitter and pitcher happy is for SDS to implement some kind of coding that restricts the pitcher from starting their pitch sequence for a few secs.

Sorry if pointing out the obvious bothers you. I’m slightly above average player and I’ve play like 140 legit games and I’ve never thought man this guy is quick pitching me. Tbh I don’t even know what it is. The faster you throw the ball the faster we can get through this 9. Fire away.

Pointing out the obvious? Again, how can you judge a person by how they fair at the game? Some people okay for fun. I'm one of them. I could care less about a W/L record in a video game. I'm content with my life and well being. I don't need to validate it with something that doesn't matter in the real world.

I literally go back down over and over. I certainly don’t care about my W/L record lol. I couldn’t even tell you what my real record is.

hey all. don't usually wade into these waters but feel compelled based on current game play experience and some of the discussions here. certainly not delusional this will change RS play. keep in mind my experience is on a ps5, not sure if play is same on all platforms.

what is commonly referred to on the forum as speed pitching is actually a quick pitch. if you have a pitcher on the mound pitching from the stretch (few starters until runners on base, mostly relievers) and you do not come to a set, it is a quick pitch. it is illegal irl MLB rules. look it up. if no runners on base, it's a ball. runners on base? yeah, that's a balk.

any doubts? play a friend. turn on balks.

r2 allows a player to force a set. the way it is currently working on this platform seems fine to me. you cannot hold it any longer than the pitcher sets.

moral of this story: take your time. allow your pitcher to set.

most of the folks doing this have very late release times. practice pitching and you will not have to cheat to do well.

and yeah. this author sucks. can somewhat pitch. cannot hit to save my life. just love this game. looking for a better online experience.

R2 was added in mlb 15 bc the quick pitching was even worse as it would add really buggy deliveries as it chained together 3 animations---especially on tony watson and pat neshek who were abused to death

SDS solved this with balks being turned on which ppl cried about. The next solution was R2 and R2 itself has been nerfed over the years and is the shortest duration hold its ever been. This along with practice swings were the counter to the slidestep spam with no one on

You are missing the point. Even with balks on, some players would still use R2 to influence bad timing from pitchers.

I'm pitching and come set. Then before/as I begin to move my stick to start the delivery, the opponent presses R2. This means that as i move my stick to get back to central, the opponent releases and the CPU sees the movement toward central as the beginning of the delivery. The result is either a wild pitch or a meatball of a pitch. This is exactly what happens already, without balks on, but turning them on still wouldnt prevent those who abuse R2.

On my platform, that is not my experience. You can only hold r2 for so long. Again, try turning on balks to see how you perform. I understand that there many frustrations playing this game. If you're getting R2d, chances are, you are quick pitching/balking. It's tiresome keeping guys in check and detracts from my enjoyment of the game.

    Happy Fathers Day.

The ppl that complain about balks dont realize that you dont even have to come set for over 1 second with them on. In MLB 13-17 you didnt have to wait for kershaw to do his [censored] fiddling thing, just come paused for a full second and then you could deliver. It really isnt a big deal and would solve tons of issues to put it back on and take away R2
