Best Practice settings to improve hitting?

This is my first baseball game in over 10 years. I feel like even if I practice on default or make changes, it wont translate well to Ranked/BR and how they modify it.

I feel every time i move the pci its just defaults to ground ball/popup but maybe its just how I move it.

Any advice on practice settings so I can be more consistent is appreciated.

Legend. Sliders all the way on pitch speeds.

Just practice placing the pci on the ball even if it’s late. Then practice on timing the pitch. Early/good is rewarded more in exit velocity than anything else. Sit fastball, react off speed.

My problem is that even when you do all of what was said above you can't really account for the lag you encounter online.
I've tried many methods and tips but it never seems to translate because online is significantly different than offline.
