Pitcher Out of energy in the 4th?

After two back-to-back games of 8 inning ball (yes, back-to-back, no rest), the following game (a week later), my pitcher can only go 4 innings before getting tired?
He’s thrown 4 complete games this year, so stamina shouldn’t be an issue.
I was 53 pitches into the game.Anyone else ever see this?

Oh wait, just saw servers went down during the game, so my Ballplayer probably reverted to the base player in the middle of the game.
