Roster Moves

I joined the Yankees and after two years they traded Luke Voit and let Aaron Judge and Luis Severino walk away in free agency during the off season. I keep restarting the game in order to re-simulate the off season hoping that Judge and Severino will eventually end up signing with the Yankees, but they never do. They sign with different teams, but never the Yankees. Does anyone know if I can just keep trying this method and hoping at least Judge stays or will he never end up staying?

You'll have to adjust the sliders to limit the CPUs roster control. Moving the sliders will result in lost 50% XP but the XP only counts toward the DD Inning Programs. So, if you don't play DD it doesn't really matter about the XP loss.
-
Like peeps said, that's about your only option. The game makes moves like crazy every year so restarting won't help.
I played against several established MLB stars in AAA lol. And seen guys like Kershaw only as long relievers on teams, etc. All sorts of screwy stuff
as well as a ton of player movement. You could make yourself in create a player, put yourself in franchise mode on the Yankees and have complete control over all moves as well as play any or all games.

I didn't know about this, thanks! I just saw a slider for "Trade Frequency" so I turned that all the way down. Hopefully that helps, but I don't think it influences what happens in free agency.

Interesting idea. If I do that, do I have to play the full 9 inning game or can I just play my created player's appearances?

Player locked you would only play the appearances of the locked player

What Pain said isn't true. After you click on play game a screen comes up with the option to play full game or player lock or quick manage or full manage game.
So you can player lock or hit and pitch for everyone. Or of course just manage any game.

By the way, the other way to get yourself on the Yankees in Franchise is to go into the Yankees roster and edit a player. You can make him a 99 OVR or whatever, two way or not, any position, etc.
You can do it with any player on the roster, however you can't change the name of a real player, so pick a fictitious one. -
Or just create yourself and then add it to the Yankees roster then save the roster and when you start your new franchise make sure you use that saved roster

I got tired of this as well. Turn you trade slider all the way down. The CPU is particularly trade happy in '21. If you want to have your team try to pick up a player at the trade deadline, roll the dice and turn it up to 3 at the most and make sure you save a safety copy of your game so you can go back if Cole gets traded for DJ Hall and a bag of used jock straps. For year to year roster moves i make 2 safety copies of my game on the last day of the season before the post season starts. This gives me 3 chances, with the original and 2 safety copies, to try and win the series without cheating (too much). On the last day of the postseason, before the off season begins, I'll update all 3 copies to the same date. For the off season I turn the trade slider up to 2 and then monitor the team's (and the league's) transactions by siming no more than 7 days at a time. Through November and December I'll stop the sim at all significant dates and then again at the end of the week. January to Spring Training I usually just sim 7 days at a time. So, what happens when you do this?..............You know who your team is getting as well as the rest of the league. I believe (no hard evidence) that you change the math every time you stop the sim as the CPU reacts to changes on a shorter time line. As long as you don't save, you can close the game and start over if CPU dumbassery happens. Make sure you save when your team makes good signings and trades. With the safety copies, you have 3 chances (or more if you close the game mid off season) at retaining good players, making good trades, signing good free agents, and having a good team for the following season. The first run through of the off season takes the longest. The 2nd and 3rd usually go pretty quick. Bad news on Judge, with the "close to home" part of morale in the FA mechanics he almost always goes to the Angels. This is the best way I know to exert control over your team's roster moves. I'm in 2026 with my player, playing CF, and the pitching staff is Urquidy, Chorinos, Gomber, Yamamoto, and Garcia with what's left of Cole in long relief. Staff ERA is 2.87. It takes time, but it works. Check out TheAntOrtiz on youtube. He does a lot of franchise and player sims that go 5 and 10 years out. He's excellent at identifying players that sim extremely well and knowing this helps when you see what your team is picking up for player 2026 and beyond. Hope this helps.
