Covering First Base on Bunts and Player Not Locking Onto the Bag

That nonsense is annoying right? Happens to me 4 or 5 times a game and if I don't get the out in spite of it they almost always end up scoring.
Only thing I've done to have at least some chance to make a play is to move towards the bag and as forward as possible pre-pitch. Seems to give me more highlighted bags on certain plays. When it doesn't (which is still frequent) I've built some muscle memory and momentum control that puts me over the bag, close enough that the step to catch the ball goes over the bag, or simply a step in front of it directly on the base path giving me the tag.
I feel your pain my man, just try and be in the same spot on the field pre-pitch and get a feel for direction and length of hold to find the sweet spot. Gotta cheat the system until they fix it.

Yea I’ve been doing similar things to beat the system. It’s just annoying that we’re forced to do that. Seems like this should be a fairly easy thing to patch but it hasn’t been addressed at all yet.

OyI feel like that also has to do with the player animations. Seems like a lot of times they move like they’re stuck in mud on the first couple of steps towards the ball.

This happens with my 2B trying to cover second on a steal attempt too, which basically means it is ALWAYS worth trying to steal on my team since I would say 95% of attempts are successful due to this animation glitch. Drives me crazy as someone who has played a 2B for years in RTTS, AND because this is something that used to work just fine.

You’re not the only one I’ve seen mention steal coverage for 2B and SS. Seems like this could be such an easy fix too.

Try pressing R1 + O (or first base button) ? The player should call for the ball and get locked to the base. At least that's how it works when you want to get an out from an steal attempt on second, haven't tried for 1B

I have the same issue sometimes. It seems to be related to the fielding stat, but I could be wrong

I’ve tried it with a ball hit into play, doesn’t work. Only time that works is if I have the ball and no one is covering or I’m closer to the bag then it’ll make me run it there, or when I’m holding the runner on I can call for a pickoff throw. That’s it. It’s definitely a bug they need to fix. That circle around the base should come up every time the ball is hit.

My guy has diamond fielding and it still happens lol. I think it has more to do with certain types of plays. Seems to be on bunts or slow grounders mostly where the the CPU apparently assumes we have no chance of getting the batter out at first, but there’s been plenty of times where he could have been out if I could just get my guy to lock on to the base.
