Can you grind multiple Archetypes?
-
I just got finished grinding my RTTS player to Diamond. I ended up with the Crime Dog archetype. I played as a SS all my career then when I go to play as my CAP on my DD squad they say I'm a 3B. I want to be a SS. I can play my CAP at SS but it says secondary position. Have any of you run the crime dog archetype at SS? Did they play ok? I'm not happy as I put hours into grinding this archetype. Is there a way to grind multiple archetypes? So that I can get the SS archetype? Please help. Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I just want to keep getting the XP for the reward path. I think you just go back and change the load out and go from there however, I’m not sure I was gonna try that today.

I also have a Crime Dog archetype which currently is diamond but not max diamond (still grinding it up to that). As you know, that archetype starts as a Slugger, and then you choose to level Sparking Slugger to get Crime Dog.
I also have a Cool Papa which is Diamond (max Diamond - starts as Speedster, then Sparking Speedster, then Cool Papa) and a The Hawk also max Diamond (start as Sparkplug - go to Slugging Sparkplug - go to The Hawk).
What I think you (and lots of other DD players as well I believe) is missing here is that for every one of those archetypes, it lists the preferred positions but it lists them in a specific order. That order does NOT matter for RTTS - you can play any of those positions and not be penalized for playing out of position. But it definitely matters for DD mode.
So, for Crime Dog - the order listed is 3B, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF. In RTTS you can play anywhere. But in DD you can only play in 3B without the secondary position penalty.
By comparison, The Hawk - the order listed is SS, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF. So if you want to play SS in DD and not get penalized, then The Hawk is a great choice. Another great one for SS is "The Wizard" (mine is currently gold). Start of as Slick Fielding then go to Sparking Slickster at silver, then The Wizard at gold. Real strong glove skills but a pain in the backside to level up at first.
Also for what it's worth, my observation is that in DD playing a secondary position is very awkward except in the outfield. Never play C or 1B as a secondary position - you will drop so many balls you will probably cost your team the game.
I hope this helps.

Oh, and as an add-on to the above - I do believe it would be great if SDS would label all the Archetypes with "Primary Positions" and "Secondary Positions" for this purpose. Would make DD player's lives better for sure.
Also, regarding your initial point - I have 5 loadouts saved. Four position players (as above - The Hawk, Cool Papa, Crime Dog, and The Wizard) and a SP. But you can only have one active at any time. So whichever one your are playing with - that's the one you are going to earn points for when you are grinding through games.
Again, hope this helps.

Moosealbany,
Its good to hear you have multiple archetypes for your cap! My question is how did you do that? I grinded my CAP max to Crime Dog. So now how do I go back and grind so that I can get a different archetype for SS?

Go the main menu - although you can do this from the RTTS locker room by going to My Player as well. In any case, get to your player menu and then select your loadout. Hit the R1 button to create a new loadout. Create a new loadout and add the Archetype you want to work on and make it active. What I do is that I rename each of my loadouts to be the same name as the archetype - just to make organizing it easier. And like I said, I have 5. Then at the start of each game, I just pick the one I want to progress. Make sure not to pick your pitching one when playing in the field or vice-versa.
Don't forget to add Perks (the small diamonds that "bolt on" to your Archetype diamond) and gear to your loadouts. Now that gear is working in RTTS, it makes things much better. And you can add Diamond level Perks to a Bronze level Archetype - which is nice and helps boost your attributes which in turn helps the progression a bit.
Good luck!

rtts Is the task malfunctioning or unresponsive?

Yes, you can grind multiple archetypes. I have grinded 10 different archetypes all the way through the diamond level. More so for the stubs than for the CAP. It’s taken be about 3 days to do all of that. But you get some pretty nice equipment and some of it goes for a good amount of stubs. It’s helped me finish the NL Collection as well as the Jackie Robinson collection in just a few days.

Yeah I change archetype out as soon as I max out the diamond version. It's also a nice addition to grinding since you unlock some stuff you can sell or use in each one.

I use el mago for ss that’s it’s main position is ss which is fielding primary power secondary and the third is speed I have it diamond as well so it usually makes my main position shortstop but idk if it’s worth grinding cause that’s the only one I have diamond it took me like a week to get it diamond cause I don’t play dd as much

Dang so my DD guy says SS and my RTTS is second base. I’m The Hawk but when I go to DD, his stats are all at SS and his contact is like 46 when in the load out screen it shows 96. What am I doing wrong? Do I just start a new RTTS and make him SS (even though I would prefer someone who could play catcher but they doesn’t work)
