Just noticed on the Kenny Lofton card, he is a member of the 500 stolen base club with 622 SB's. Why don't they have this card as a member of the 600 SB club instead of the 500 club? It got me thinking, maybe the year he got his 600th bag was a down year for him, so I pulled up baseball reference and discovered that by basic stats (I don't know much about ISO and other Sabremetric stats) his final year (2007), which was split between the Rangers (where he got his 600th SB) and Indians was actually better than 2002 when he got his 500th SB with the White Sox.

    BA: 2002 - .261
    BA: 2007 - .296
    OPS: 2002 - .763
    OPS: 2007 - .781
    Base Stealing %: 2002 - 72.5%
    Base Stealing %: 2007 - 76.7%

Then I thought, "maybe, there aren't enough guys to make a 'club' for 600 SB's." For example, Rickey Henderson has 1,406 SB's...Second best is Brock at 938. So anything over 1,000 SB's is just one guy and therefore not a club. But there are 18 people with 600+ SB's and SDS currently has the rights / has recently had the rights to the below individuals:

    Rickey Henderson
    Lou Brock
    Ty Cobb
Tim Raines (Didn't SDS recently have his rights?)
    Honus Wagner
    Joe Morgan
    Lofton (obviously)
    Juan Pierre

What's more, there aren't that many more players that SDS has recently had the rights to who are between 500 and 600 SBs. Notable names below

    Ozzie Smith
Jose Reyes (I thought SDS had his rights a few years ago, but maybe he was active)
Barry Bonds (SDS isn't getting his rights, but included him since he's notable)
    Ichiro
    Luis Aparicio
    Paul Molitor

Also, John Franco has 400 saves and is listed in the 300 save club. This is more reasonable, since 1996 was a statistically better year than 1999. List of guys with over 400 saves below...SDS has a pretty good roster here:

    Mariano Rivera
    Trevor Hoffman
    Lee Smith
Francisco Rodriguez (Not sure if SDS has his rights)
    Franco
    Billy Wagner

    Notable players between 300 - 400 saves:

    Dennis Eckersley
    Joe Nathan
    Jonathan Papelbon
    Troy Percival
    Craig Kimbrel
    Rollie Fingers
    Fernando Rodney
    Huston Street
    Kenley Jansen
    Robb Nen
    Tom Henke
    Goose
    Jason Isringhausen

Fun Fact - Billy Hamilton has 914 SB's and I was like J.F.C., I knew Hamilton was fast, but I thought I would have heard about him approaching number 2 on the list. Turns out there was a different Billy Hamilton who played from 1888 - 1901. Must be in the name...

Billy Hamilton only has 308 stolen bases

The original Billy Hamilton is a HOFer, lol. It's funny to me that most people think of the imposter Billy instead of the authentic HOF one.

Anyone who played the www.whatifsports.com version of fantasy baseball has probably made a few lineups with the 1880s version.

The OG Billy was a stud. He batted .403 one year. Granted, pitchers weren't throwing nasty breaking balls and triple digit cheddar in the late 1800's.

    1. This is the best research paper ever presented on the MLB forums.

    2. I think it has more to do with "known" baseball milestones. So the 40/40 club or the 300 saves clubs these are milestones that even fair weather fans know and recognize. A 600 Stolen base club is not as windy used in talking about milestones as the 500 club is

Way back in the day, didn't they credit a runner with a stolen base by going first to third on a single?

Well done man. Thought the same about Lofton myself. They could have had a nice program

I think you are spot on here. Thome has 612 career homeruns but I would bet good money he gets a 500 HR club card later on

How awesome would it be if you paralleled him and the card transforms to a 600 club version

We need a Craig Biggio (285) and Jason Kendall (254) 250 HBP Milestone cards.

These would be great pictures to see pop up in an online lineup.

And make them less likely to move out of the way of a pitch, lol.
