I'm not a Mariners fan but that famous offseason Zoom call got me quite interested in the team's decision-making: Jarred Kelenic being named specifically by the ex-president as someone who would be kept down in the minors for service time reasons.
Post Zoom call, the team insisted to Kelenic and everyone listening that he would be kept in the minors for baseball reasons (honest!) and that he needed time against minor league pitching.
My understanding is that he's faced a whole 4 games of AAA pitching and they're calling him up now, but the cynic in me is pretty sure being held back until May achieves the team's service time manipulation goal. Is that for sure correct, or are they actually calling him up early on merit?
If looks like a duck and quacks like a ducks, it's probably a duck.
